Alunan Resort All Inclusive (2 Night Min.)

Good place to stay

Our flight out of KL to Kuala Terrengannu was delayed. We were going to miss our boat ride to the Perhentians. We were quite upset. But the way the Alunan resort and the staff handled the whole thing was a case study in travel and hospitality. We showed up at the Kuala Besutt office and were warmly welcomed. Soon we were led to the Jetty and our things were loaded up on to a more ‘public’ but immensely comfortable transfer. Once we reached Alunan it was just magic. This was an all inclusive trip and so we made the most of it with their snorkeling trips, sea turtle viewing and the sunset cruise. Being coral and environment friendly is a theme that pervades everything at Alunan. We had a chance to visit the coral Lab and see the fantastic conservation work that they are doing. The marine biologists patiently explained the work they are doing to grow corals in the lab. The snorkeling trip was great. We felt safe and cared for. Alunan ensured that we escaped the sometime crowded areas. The room was very comfortable. They give you an aluminum bottle that one can fill at the water cooler and use it for the whole stay. There were welcome snacks and a bag to carry our wet clothes around as complimentary. The wifi was good and the bathroom had toiletries that were reef safe. I learnt about reef safe sunscreens too. The swimming pool was good for lounging. The views from some of the rooms was spectacular. Our room had a terrace sit out with partial sea view which was up a flight of stairs. Even the lights in the pathways in the resort came on with a motion sensor. The straws were made of metal. The food was wonderfully prepared. The chef ensured that as a vegetarian I had adequate food choices. He came out and spoke to us. The climb up and down is a bit steep but you soon get used to it. Watch out for mosquitoes as you are in the middle of a tropical island. This is one of the best holidays we have ever had. The staff of Alunan are fantastic and caring.

Reach Alunan office at Besut jetty. Place our luggage there and someone came with motorbike to take us to parking place. RM10 per car per day for parking. Smooth arrangement and we depart by boat to Alunan Perhentian Kecil. All luggage arrange by their staff. Very good for as first impression. Reach Alunan about 30 minutes and been greet by FO staff. Bring us to Reception and brief us about activities and others. Nice and so sedap the welcome drinks. Personalize check in with smile from the staff. Room was clean and smell good. Food was good. The main valuable asset for Alunan is their staff. Keep it up

Booked All Inclusive package. The staff were generally warm, both in kuala besut office and Perhentian island, there were a lot of stairs and very steep ramps to go to rooms. The room we had is spacious and there are stairs that leads up to the balcony.nice view and can hang wet clothes to dry. The package includes unlimited food and beverage, no in room dining. The food is average overall, we didn't get to have western/Italian food for dinner due to the weather, the restaurant was closed.Wonder why can't they just cook at the main kitchen(Bayu restaurant). So we sort of lose out here.However, we did get to have it on the last night there, once out of 3 nights. The teh tarik at bayu restaurant was nice. Our package included unlimited snorkeling trips too, the trips are twice a day,with different islands for each trip.Unfortunately in Sept, the weather was bad, every evening .Snorkeling trip and sunset cruise were cancelled. So we did batik painting, played congkak, foosball, adopt corals and just hang out at the beach. Oh, glass bottom tour is highly recommended as we get to see and have better understanding on the corals. In summary, we enjoyed our time in Perhentian but I don't think that the package is worth it if you go in Sept. Especially if you don't take alcoholic drinks.

The accommodation is very nice. Spacey rooms with large bathrooms and a nice rooftop to dry your beachwear. The resort offers a lot of activities which are good serviced. Nevertheless they are - to our opinion - overpriced. Also, but actually moreover, the full all inclusive option is really overpriced. The restaurant is okay, although we prefer a more local cuisine, both for breakfast and dinner. A good reason to choose for the neighbors. A warm shout out goes to the ladies from the reception: Cel and Priscilla, well done! You’ll make it to become managers soon. Overall, the resort is nice for a four-nights stay at the end of round trip through Malaysia.

It's hard to put into words how amazing my time at Alunan resort was. I have stayed at many resorts but this was the most wholesome and beautiful one I've ever stayed at. - Transport is all sorted for you, you can wait in an airconditioned room while they take your luggage to the boat. The boat is VERY fast and bumpy but so enjoyable. Once you reach Alunan they pick up your bags and give you a tour around the resort. - The staff are all so incredible and so attentive. I have to give huge kudos to the owner of this resort - this was the happiest and most content team of employees I've ever met. I loved that they could also enjoy snorkelling or the painting in their free time too. - The snorkelling trip they offer is 100% worth it - I got to swim with sharks, turtles and nemos! The team are so helpful and also loads of fun - I really enjoyed going with them! - The breakfast is delicious, I looked forward to going up there every day! - The rooms are big and clean, I slept very comfortably. I also love the reusable bottles, it was such a special touch. - The dinner restaurant was good but we went every night to have their homemade icecream (one of the few places we could find ice cream on the islands!) - The taxi boats to go to other islands were easy to sort too, reception were happy to call them for us. - We unfortunately had a mini intruder one night, a mouse had got its way in. The staff were very quick to move us to another room and they also washed all our luggage in case it went in there. This wasn't the resorts fault - its expected when you're living in the middle of a jungle! - The other thing to note is that this resort is VERY steep. We were staying at the top and we'd break out into a sweat every time we went up. It's not very accessible for everyone - but if you're okay with a bit of uphill walking then I highly recommend this resort. Overall it was an amazing stay. I enjoyed snorkelling, scuba diving, paddle boarding, swimming, eating and just relaxing on this beautiful island. I felt genuinely sad to say goodbye at the end. I really really recommend this resort.
