USD 23 for a bed in a large dormitory? The going rate for that type of accommodation in Costa Rica is USD 10 to 12. Irrespective of whether the management has set these prices or has outsourced dynamic pricing (and thereby sold it soul) to accommodation booking websites, this is outrageously overpriced. The hostel is basically an open shed constructed of wood and bamboo, with gaps in the structure. The architect and management perhaps thought it looked cute and vaguely 'tropical'. I think it is just impractical, particularly because the hostel lacks a garden and directly faces the street on two sides. Little protection from noise and mosquitos (bed nets provided). Heaven knows what it must feel to stay there during a rain storm. The dormitory looks like a stable. Bedside sockets, but no bedside lamps, and half of the ceiling lights did not work. The water pressure in the (cold) shower was so low that water was only a trickle. Friendly management and central location. Upon check-in you must sign a disclaimer informing you that you are staying with a community project. No information is given what this project is actually about. I suggest that if you want to support the community in Puerto Viejo you make a donation to a local charity instead, and stay elsewhere.

Tolles Team, toller Vibe! War 8 Tage dort und würde es sofort weiterempfehlen. Die Besitzerin Chantal hat es vor einigen Monaten übernommen und führt gemeinsam mit ihren Volunteers ein tolles Hostel! Jedes Bett mit Schrank, Moskitonetz und Ventilatoren im Dorm. Gut ausgestattete Küche und genügend Duschen mit warmem Wasser. Hostel wird regelmässig gereinigt und besitzt Hängematten!
