Abbey Del Sol

I can't say enough about our experience at Abbey del Sol! We booked this trip as a treat for our nephew and his best friend as a reward for working so hard in college. Neither are experienced travelers or have traveled alone, especially internationally. My spouse and I were to fly in separately from a different city and meet them the same day. Unfortunately we were weather delayed for 48 hours and the boys were on their own. I immediately contacted the management at the hotel to explain the situation and they took care of everything. They arranged for a driver to meet the boys at the airport and drive them straight to the property, getting them settled in and oriented to both the house and to the area. We were reassured that there was someone there to look after them in our absence and to make sure they were safe. This actually worked out well because with the help of Abbey del Sol the boys were able to be the ones showing us the house and how everything worked and showing us around the area and the places they had discovered. I'm really glad that the management went above and beyond to make sure we did not need to worry about them while we tried to make other travel arrangements. They really do operate as one big family and provide service is a very personal manner. It was like visiting family as opposed to being guests. If you are undecided about where to travel in the Riviera Maya I would suggest that Puerto Morelos is an ideal choice but that you should go soon. The oceanside area is still a sleepy little fishing village but the number of new condos under construction mean it may not stay as relaxed and uncrowded too much longer. The vibe here is casual and would be a nice alternative to the larger resorts in the area. We all decided that we were very happy to have chosen this instead of a resort as the boys got a much more authentic Mexican experience and loved everyone being able to hang out together at the house as a group. They want to do this again as soon as we are able to. If you need more glitz and glamor Cancun and Playa del Carmen are both nearby. Who should not come here? Anyone who is interested in partying through the night and dressing to impress. That is, thankfully, not the vibe here. Abbey del Sol offers a number of options from smaller properties to whole houses. We chose Casa Zarah and it was perfect for the four of us, but could accommodate a larger group. Having the fully equipped kitchen led to us cooking meals together and after a long day in the sun having a private pool to dive into was very refreshing. We weren't aware of this when we made the booking, but the properties are located at the very north end of the area. This is perfect. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful and the town square was a short walk or ride away on the provided bikes. We would definitely stay here again and we are already looking at schedules for next December to make sure we have a chance to stay at this wonderful place!

Booked this place after a bunch of research; decided on apt #10 and it was not a mistake...we want to go back. Having stayed exclusively on resorts this was our first time staying anywhere else. The entirety of the experience with Abbey del Sol was 5 stars but the part that made it exceptional was the front office. Mariala and Mildred brought the experience to another level. We asked for taxis and boom they arrived. We asked them for a couple’s massage in our room, boom, they delivered and it was awesome. The room was spotless with almost everything you could want to live in it. They had thought of pretty much everything. The bikes Abbey del Sol had for our use turned out to be a necessity. We used them several times each day. The pool was very relaxing. We nailed it with this booking. Apt 10 is more expensive than a lot of other places you can find in Puerto Morelos, but the difference is, I didn’t really have a single critique with Abbey del Sol, we were so impressed and relaxed. Whereas a lot of other people we met had several negative comments with their accommodations. I would highly recommend Abbey del Sol to anyone looking for a place to stay.

We travel to Puerto Morelos typically about twice a year. We always rent a property with Abbey del Sol. They have many beautiful homes and condos. Casa Zarah is our favorite (but all are wonderful). It is on the north end of town and very quiet. The home is beautifully decorated and well equipped. The pools is amazing and where we spend much of our time. AC is cool throughout the house. Jin and Mariela are always extremely helpful and quick to take care of your needs.

Stayed w/ another couple (brother & sister in law) and additional brother. At the casa agua Azul property. Our daughter was married at a local restaurant Las Sirena, Abbey Del Sol Staff was easy to communicate with, better to use their website then VRBO. Jin stepped in to interpret for us between rental car agency and private transport from resort. Ask Jin about “Roberto” and a rental car agency just outside of airport, BEST deal on a minivan outside of the chain companies. We used this rental car service through “Claudia” at the PM travel agency but Jin at Abbey Del Sol also knows/refers them. House was beautiful, gorgeous staircase is a little narrower than some pics I have seen (remember you will need to carry luggage up, we did successfully) husband joked need a slide or pole to come down. Definitely not for children or those with mobility issues. Freezer didn’t work, kinda a bummer as we brought items we had hoped to freeze and take with us on our adventures. Only one safe, not in main master but on second floor master it wasn’t working, thankfully house was safe/secure with gate and such, town seems to be pretty safe and patrolled well so no issues. Close enough to walk to and from town we did a few times as parking is little to none even in off peak august time, nice size grocery store, house had 5 gallon water bottles and hot/cold water dispenser, salt/pepper, small amount of coffee, sugar, hotel size shampoo/conditioner, We bought laundry soap, cooking spray, more coffee, breakfast items, snacks, beer etc. backpacks are a must, sun hats. Bring a reusable water bottle we were continuously filling disposable plastic ones & bring/buy BUG Spray!!! Aerosol spray can be in checked bags for plane. Most restaurants will give you if you ask but we found it’s definitely needed at other times like an evening dip in the pool which was a nice amenity at the house. The sound system was great, I used it to wake everyone up ;) house was beautiful, with great attention spent on decorating and staging, ideal layout. staff was pleasant and friendly, don’t hesitate to ask them to contact and interpret for you to other businesses. We enjoyed our stay, definitely recommend Abbey Del Sol, they have a “team”. We found most respectful businesses know one another in this small town. Hope to stay again and maybe check out their additional properties.

We’ve used Abbey del Sol several times over the years and love that they have a variety of options. For this stay we chose Casa Agua Azul, a beautiful three bedroom house with courtyard, pool and tons of large balconies which turned out to be the perfect option for this trip. The staff can help arrange massages, snorkeling tours or pretty much anything else you might want or need. Highly recommend!
