Alua Tenerife

Spent 7 nights in Alua Tenerife with my husband and kids, all aged 16. Absolutely fantastic hotel. We were apprehensive after reading some awful reviews but really there was no need. The hotel staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived, the hotel is really clean and has absolutely everything you need for your stay. Food was excellent, really wide range even for picky teenagers. Certainly there are more Spanish speaking guests than English and entertainment was more geared to this but at no stage did we feel that was an issue. We also used the hotel transfer to get us from/back to the airport, this was lots cheaper than our tour operator and worked a treat. We didn’t venture out of the resort much so can’t say anything about the area but hotel is perfect for quite a cost effective all inclusive week in Tenerife.

Nothing only good things to say about this hotel. As a UK family we had heard some terrible reviews but I can honestly say everything you would want from a moderately priced family holiday is here. The food was excellent and provided a good range for children, i.e. chips and pizza and also tasty food for grown-ups. We found the hotel to be absolutely spotless. It appears to have undergone a recent revamp and it is genuinely very nice. We find the staff to be extremely attentive and very professional. The only thing we asked for was done with a smile and we have absolutely no complaints what so ever. If you are after a family holiday at reasonable price, then this would take every box. Excellent food, wonderful pool facilities, friendly staff, spotless hotel and within walking distance of the main resort.

Just returned home from a week all inclusive at the Alua Tenerife. It was OK. And that’s about all. The hotel entrance was pretty and always clean, the rooms were spacious and fit a family of 3 comfortably. Cleaned every day and the front staff friendly and helpful when asked questions. The food was standard all inclusive, something for everyone each day. We always found something to eat and my little one enjoyed the freshly baked pancakes for breakfast each morning. Restaurant clean and spacious, staff friendly and always helpful. Overall cannot fault the food or front of house staff. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the zoo which was amazing and about 20 minutes into the town square which was very pretty and we enjoyed a few days and nights down by the busy square. You can get the free train back to the zoo which we did a few times. However what lets this hotel down is the discrimination towards English guests. The animation team will actively ignore anyone who is not French. You can only use the kids club if you’re French, all activities are only for French guests and we were told a number of times we could not join into activities because we were not French. I don’t want a Brit abroad holiday and enjoy exploring cultures and can speck enough French to get by, but this was next level!! The day and evening entertainment are aimed only at the French guests and while we don’t routinely join into the activities it would have been nice to have the opportunity as my little one wanted to try new activities but was told no several times. Try explaining that to a 5 year old!!! If you are there for Jungle Party day good luck, it’s like a bad 18-30 booze cruise, with shouting and screaming ALL day long (from 10am until 11pm) around the pool, poor DJing and shouting in a speaker all day long!! The day ended by fireworks off the roof top at 11pm ( genuinely thought it was gunfire) we had not been warned about this so this woke our 5 year old up!! Definitely would not be back to this hotel, which is a shame as it’s a pretty hotel in a nice location but it’s let down by the feeling of discrimination from the animation team.

After reading previous reviews about this hotel I was a little worried about staying here. I had no need to worry though as our stay has been fabulous. Rooms are spotless with daily cleans. Towels changed every day. Good size room with a fridge and TV. Good balcony space with sea view. We stayed bed and breakfast and couldn't really fault the food. Plenty of choice available. Food was always hot and regularly topped up. Great location for the beach. 15 minute walk into town or jump a taxi for 5 euros. Shops near by within walking distance. A few restaurants near by and a Tapas bar within the hotel grounds. We didn't really get involved much with the entertainment but what we did see it was tailored to the French and Spanish speaking residents. Staff spoke very little English which could be a bit difficult sometimes when needing assistance but we managed. We didn't mind this though as we didn't want a "Brit's abroad experinece". If this is the type of holiday you want then I would suggest you go elsewhere. The hotel itself is really modern in the main reception areas. The pool area is a little tired looking in areas with cracked and broken tiles. The outside of the building over looking the pool looks a bit like a prison with it's grey walls but nothing a lick of paint couldn't sort. Lovely bar called vertigo at the very top of the building with good sea views. Worth a visit as the cocktails were really nice and it's quite chilled up there. The hotel went above and beyond for us when I asked for a cake and some fizz to celebrate my parteners birthday. They reserved a table for us in the restaurant laid the table out with plates and napkins. A gengleman served us the fizz and the staff even sang happy birthday. They also sent a complimentary bottle of fizz to our room later in the day. These little touches are what made our stay that little more special. Over all we had a brilliant time. Don't look into the bad reviews too much as you just can't please some people. We would happily stay here again

Rooms spacious Staff understand very little English. Entertainment staff DO NOT include all guests (only for Spanish, French and German guests) Kids club NOT INCLUSIVE for ALL kids (seems to be for only Spanish, French and Germans) Big group of guests arrived with lots of kids aged 8-12/13 and took over the hotel. Have no consideration for other guests and seem to do what they want with NO telling off. Food very bland with very little taste. You need to take your room key card holder with you for breakfast, lunch and dinner or you wont get in. All Inclusive is only available from 11am to 11pm. Made to feel very uncomfortable as everyone stares at you when walking around either to the pool, bar or restaurant. Its like sardines in a tin at the pool side with beds squashed together. Its stated in the pool rules that you arent allowed to save beds, but people had their towels down from 7:30 onwards. Would say this hotel IS NOT FOR BRITISH GUESTS AS NOT VERY BRITISH FRIENDLY. WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANY BRITISH GUESTS AT ALL

We just came back from Alua , we had to wait 3 hours for the friend of the coach drivers friend so we didn't arrive till 5am should have been 2.45 .The hotel appears clean but on our second night our room was full of ants and in our bed .We spent the night hitting them ! To find we had been bitten ..I went to reception and was told housekeeping would go in that day ...NO they did not on our table drink marks remained there after they had been .To then discover my son's room had ants too . We paid 300 pounds to upgrade oh my ..the sausage was raw at breakfast then the chicken at dinner I took my plate to the hotel manager .He appeared angry and went to the kitchen but at dinner the same happened with the burgers ! But love holidays have said they can't do anything as the hotel have a certificate to say everything is ok ! Clearly not ! The AI doesn't start till 11am and the pool 10 am .The food is very repetitive always paella and pasta no variety .Tried to upload photos but kept saying error
