Sant Alphio Garden Hotel & Spa

A beautiful hotel almost by the beach and with a great pool. Very nice breakfast snd a very nice staff. Always smiling and polite👍. More like a congress hotell than a «typical» holiday hotel. Which made it even better for a couple like us👍. The Main Street was close by and had several good restaurants and market. Worth while visiting 😄

First impressions? Reception area and bar area very palatial with limited seating. My room was quite large but with very little in it; upright chair, dressing table, enough storage space, no info on opening times, room service, etc. - the only thing was a leaflet about the Spa! No tea or coffee making facilities. Bed was very firm but bedside lighting was good. Bathroom was small but OK; shower head was awful with no adjustment and shower tray very slippy with nothing to hold on to - it took 2 days for a non slip mat to appear! Tiled floor also vey slippy when wet. Toiletries consisted of 2 small bars of soap and 2 small shower/shampoo bottles. NIce view from the very small balcony but the room had no protection from the sun during the day so it got hot! Air con. was very noisy. Breakfast had a poor buffet with not much in the way of choices - the only hot food was scrambled egg and this wasn't always very hot! A small array of cakes and pastries was available to finish off your meal. Dinner was four courses and the dishes were delivered to side tables where the waiters doled out the food before bringing it to you. Dining room enormous with waiters struggling to serve all the tables when it was only half full - there were lots of coach parties. The gardens were very nice and the pool area had a cafe/bar with a large under cover seating area. At the bottom of the gardens was a gate to the lane which led you down to the beach area; the hotel's reserved area (for which you have to pay to use the loungers, etc.) was to the right and the public beach area to the left. The hotel's beach also played loud music all day long. This hotel could be very nice but at the present time, it has no character and needs someone to sort out the little details that warrant a four star rating!

Very comfortable hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and spacious and well looked after during our stay. The breakfast was quite good and a choice of drinks you would want- coffee was enjoyable and I could make tea as the water was hot enough. The dinners were massive and I had to skip courses and leave food - each meal would have served a minimum of 2-3 people in my view. We were on a coach tour and had to eat in at night. I would have preferred to go out as there were lots of restaurants nearby. The waiting staff were very good and gave us a firework on our dessert on the last night. The drinks were very strong(!) - but good although a bit pricey. We would visit this home; again if we were in the area. the portering staff were excellent.

Very poor hotel all glizx at the front poor behind. Food was poor and not served just dumped on ghe table same with wine. Dining room like a pop concert hundreds of people. Food quality declines by the day only 'hot" food at breakfast is scrambled egg and that was cold toast needs to go through toaster at least 3 times. Staff surly and non communicative certainly would not recommend

Before I went the reviews gave me a bad impression of the place but all wasn't as it seemed. The staff are well presented and helpful and the cleaning staff deserve a bonus, filthy holiday makers So the rooms are a bit dated but they are in the process of upgrading them all. It's a huge hotel and can only do one or 2 rooms at a time. Our room was spot on, balcony as asked for with view of Etna. Clean and plenty of light. Bathroom was clean and though the shower is a tad small, it worked perfectly. Never used the pool or the private beach, tho can sit at side of it for no charge. One minor aspect was the food, as a vegan, I struggled a bit. I wasn't expecting a full on vegan banquet they aren't gonna put on so much food for a small percentage of vegans there. I bought some non milk from local store, lived off tea, toast, cereal and fruit. Nothing was labelled up so I guessed all cakes and pastries had butter in. I coped, am used to it, ate out a lot so made up for it. We would both return and like to see it when fully renovated.

Excellent in every way. What a lovely place, we only stayed for three nights, group of 41. Fabulous grounds, premises, rooms, bar, restaurant, swimming pool etc etc. Would love to stay at this hotel again. Our idea of a good 4* hotel, managed and staffed by professionals. My ideal hotel, with great views of mount Etna.
