Maris Grand Resort

We recently stayed at Maris Grand Waterpark Resort, and overall, it was a letdown. First, the food was not fresh. The vegetables were old and moldy, while the sliced meat was clearly old — dry edges, odd texture, and just looked unappetising (see attached photos). It felt more like leftovers rather than freshly prepared items. For a resort that claims to be premium, this level of food quality was shocking and disappointing. Second, the “all-inclusive plus” package is misleading. Only the most basic cocktails are included + local beer, soft drinks, and two house wines. Anything else, including an extra charge. This was incredibly frustrating and should be made much clearer before booking. You don’t expect to have to pay extra at an “all-inclusive” resort. And finally — and most frustrating of all — the waterpark was closed during our stay. This is a major feature and selling point of the resort, and nowhere during the booking process was this disclosed. Guests should be clearly informed before booking if a key attraction like this is unavailable. It felt very dishonest and disappointing, especially for families traveling with children who were looking forward to it. However, the hotel does offer a shuttle service to their sister property, Narcissos Waterpark Resort, but the service only runs once an hour, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, the hotel swimming pool was quite overcrowded, and finding a sun lounger was impossible. The same issue existed at the Maris Grand, with far too few sunbeds available for the number of guests. Even with notices prohibiting reservations, we noticed guests reserving sunbeds early in the morning by placing their towels down. Overall, this situation felt mismanaged and left a lot to be desired during our stay. There are no bins in the pool area, resulting in plastic cups and other litter being blown around. We were expecting a relaxing, fun, all-inclusive experience, but instead got subpar food, drink restrictions, and no waterpark. Not worth the money and wouldn’t recommend unless significant improvements are made. 📸 (Photos attached show the poor food quality.)

⭐️ 1 star We arrived at the Maris Grand Waterpark Resort in Cyprus on July 19th, 2025, full of excitement – myself, my wife, my sister, her husband, and their two young daughters. But what happened after check-in left us shocked and deeply hurt. The hotel had been informed in advance that we are a Turkish family. The welcome at the reception was polite – but from that point on, we no longer felt welcome. We were denied access to any alcoholic beverages for our entire stay, until our departure on July 29th. Other guests were served normally – we were simply excluded. When we tried to talk to the manager, we were met with hostility, aggression, and total disrespect. We weren’t even allowed to speak. We were threatened with the police and told we could be thrown out of the hotel! The manager even suggested that we could leave the children in the hotel and “find a different place for the adults” – what kind of treatment is that? This was discrimination, plain and simple. It was humiliating, upsetting, and unacceptable. In a tourist destination, your ethnicity should never determine how you’re treated. We cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who values fairness, dignity, and true hospitality.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the treatment my family and I received during our stay at your hotel, starting on July 19, 2025. We arrived as two families – myself, my wife, and our two children, along with my brother-in-law and his wife. The initial reception at the front desk was friendly and professional. We were advised to have lunch while our rooms were being prepared. The meal was satisfactory, and the rooms were modern and clean. However, the situation deteriorated rapidly from there. While at the pool on the first afternoon, my brother-in-law and I had a brief conversation with the lifeguards. The female lifeguard (named Maria) made an inappropriate remark, suggesting to my brother-in-law that she would “do anything for €100.” We took this as a tasteless joke. Another male staff member mentioned that he had access to many clubs and could “arrange anything,” including *****. We immediately stated that we have absolutely no connection to ***** and that we were simply looking to enjoy a peaceful family vacation. We found this offer both shocking and unacceptable. The following day, we walked to the beach with our children. Upon returning to the hotel, we felt increasingly watched by the staff. We were asked several times about our background and ethnicity. While we are all born and raised in Germany, we are of Turkish descent. We were later informed by other guests that locals in Cyprus often harbor hostility toward Turks. That evening, the assistant manager aggressively confronted us in our room and “threatened” to remove my brother-in-law from the hotel. When I asked why, he claimed that his staff told him we were trying to sell ***** to employees – a completely false and baseless accusation. When I requested to see the supposed video evidence, I was denied access. Instead, we were told to stay quiet for the remainder of our stay and warned that we would be evicted immediately if we caused “any trouble.” During dinner, we were humiliated further. A waiter informed us that my brother-in-law was not allowed to order a beer and my wife was also denied a glass of wine – a ban that was imposed for the remainder of our nine-day stay without any valid explanation. This was clearly a form of targeted mistreatment based on false claims and prejudice. We contacted our tour operator immediately and requested a transfer to another hotel, which was fortunately arranged. Speaking with other hotel guests, including an English couple, we were informed that a staff member had told them, “They don’t like Turks here.” Another German couple, who shared our transfer bus, reported that the TUI bus driver had informed the hotel manager in advance that he was bringing a “Turkish family” and that they should be watched closely. This level of discrimination is utterly unacceptable. We came here to enjoy a family vacation – not to be judged, mistreated, or falsely accused based on our ethnicity, religion, or nationality.
