Solcalante

I have just returned from six nights at the Solcalante Hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful position and has lovely views from the terrace overlooking the island of Ischia. However, it is totally let down by the management team. This hotel is run by those who are very lacking in any people skills. They are non- communicative and unfriendly. They did not even give us eye contact during our whole visit. Fortunately their staff were kind and hard working. Breakfast staff and cleaners were very helpful. They kept the rooms and pool clean and tidy. Two events were held at the hotel during our stay (without any prior warning) and we were asked to leave the pool for a private function. We were restricted from the bar area or able to sit on the terrace. ( reserved notices were left on all of the chairs/loungers). These parties were large and very busy and noisy. We felt we had to go out even though we had planned a quiet evening and to have dinner at the hotel. There is only one restaurant in walking distance from hotel. ( 10mins walk). The events were on Saturday 14th ( 4pm-very late) and on the Tuesday ( 12-6). When I complained to one of the management team he was very rude and said “We had only booked a room at the hotel not a pool”. This was totally incorrect, we booked bed and breakfast with all the amenities the hotel has to offer. I am 68 years old and my husband and I have extensively travelled. We have never come across this bad attitude before. Also the hotel advertises having a sauna and massage services, there were no evidence of either. Also the solarium is a neglected empty roof space over the hotel rooms.

Charming, rustic hotel in keeping with the island itself. Very clean, fresh towels and beds made daily. We loved our room and terrace area in the garden. Pool cleaned daily but not very warm at this time of year. Nice fresh breakfast. A couple of things to note: we left our key intentionally one day and couldn’t get back in on our return at 8.30pm. An emergency contact number had been left on reception (inside the building) but not on the door. Fortunately another resident let us in. So take your key with you! We visited first week in Oct, apparently this is midge season, beware as your room is surrounded by a lovely garden and we found it difficult to venture out come evening time without being eaten alive! Island advise- explore a little by foot if possible, the islands public buses are great but in actual fact you may find that you could have walked it in less time than the bus takes! There’s a delightful rustic little deli /cafe a few hundred yards left of the hotel (past the church) highly recommend.

Lovely pool and terrace overlooking the sea with snack bar (doubles as restaurant at breakfast and dinner). Rooms OK, staff very helpful, breakfast good, view outstanding. Snags are the dinner provision and the location. Although the hotel is quite near the famous Postino beach there are no restaurants within easy walking distance, which is a shame as the food in the hotel we think is brought in from outside and was not particularly good. I was served on the first evening with what I think was a large crayfish or something similar which I found difficult to eat at all. Nice, helpful staff though.

Dello splendido panorama e’ stato già detto da tutti ed anche della cortesia nella gestione , ma quello che più di tutto mi ha colpito è che si respira pace e tranquillità , anche all’interno dello staf e questo è molto più raro da riscontrare !! Complimenti !! Vivamente consigliato !

Semplicemente delizioso: nei suoi colori, nel giardino, nelle camere e nel personale. Ottima la colazione nel gazebo in vetro in mezzo al verde. E' anche dotato di una bella piscina! . Si può raggiungere facilmente dal porto in bus! Anna Maria - Torino

Hotel molto bello, elegante, molto curato, stupendo nei colori e in tutti i suoi spazi. Geniale la sala colazione tutta in vetro, con piscina; dispone di una SPA. Ho apprezzato gli arredi, l'accoglienza, l'ambiente... anche i prodotti per il bagno con il loro simbolo... è stata una stupenda sorpresa. Era la mia prima volta a Procida. Con i compagni di viaggio abbiamo "esplorato" l'isola con la mappa e le spiegazioni forniteci. Il mare con i faraglioni a pochi metri... sono veramente entusiasta per l'esperienza... Ringrazio ancora con questo msg per l'accoglienza ricevuta. Un tre stelle certamente superiore!!!
