Theranda Hotel

My expectations were a bit higher and that could be it, but the bathroom basin was leaking as I showered. This is a big issue as tiles when wet are a dangerous combo. The breakfast considering it serves multinational people was very basic. I have been to many hotels and the breakfast bar has had pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, and some protein. It had sliced chicken and not the grilled kind, more like the salami style Wrapped. Considering it is a sought after hotel bcs of the location I was expecting a little hjigher standard of quality.

The hotel was in a great location and we really appreciated the included parking. However, it is in massive need of maintenance. There were a lot of broken light fixtures, loose tiles, radiators without their covers and an electrical outlet in the bathroom that came out of the wall. As well, all of the electrical outlets were hidden behind furniture. The breakfast was good.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in late September, ‘23 as part of a small group Balkans tour. It was an ok hotel for a short visit to Prizren, but there might be more comfortable options. The hotel is in an excellent location on the river, just across from the main mosque and the old town area. There are a number of good restaurants and shops nearby. The large lobby area is attractive and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby connects to an equally attractive restaurant that was open to the street and had nice views. This is where the breakfast buffet was served, which was sparse and not very tasty – premade “omlettes,” no fresh fruit or yogurt, thin coffee. Our room (218) was somewhat small and had little room for luggage. There was one double bed and two night stands, though only one had an outlet, a credenza with minibar and a luggage stand for one suitcase. The closet had adequate room, with both shelves and an area to hang clothes. The wall a.c. unit was effective but blew uncomfortably on the bed. The bathroom was small, had a stylish raised sink with very little counter space, and a small corner shower. Overall we rate the Theranda as an acceptable hotel for Prizren, but if we were to return we might look into other options.

The hotel has probably the best location just alongside the river and the stone bridge with great room view of the old part of Prizren. For the old part of town you should just pass the bridge. But everything else is poor. There was no hot wather in the shower, the air condition did not work, first there was nothing for breakfast after my request they provided a almost empty plate with leftovers.

Avoid by all costs!! 1. The bedsheets were stained, ripped, and smelled like cigarettes. The rest of the room was dirty. 2. The AC did not work at all, and therefore the windows had to be kept open. This kept me and my friend awake during the night due to the loud traffic noises. 3. The breakfast buffet was disgusting: not only were there very little food options in the morning, the hygienic standard to which the food had been stored and handled were questionable. Moreover, the plates and glasses, that should have been transparent, were yellow from stains of fat and dried food leftovers. 4. The service during the breakfast was beyond something me and my well-travelled friend had ever seen in our lives. Half an hour before the buffet was about to close, a woman with children (who were clients of the hotel!) came to take some food, but the man working at the breakfast bar was rude and shouted to them that "breakfast is over", even if there was still half an hour left of breakfast time. My friend brought the family foods from the (disgusting) breakfast buffet, and she got yelled at by the worker. 5. We went on and complained to the hotel manager about what we had witnessed just moments before at breakfast. The hotel manager was AWFULLY rude, questionized what we had witnessed, and when I pointed out the dirty plates and glasses, he accused me of lying. Oh, and the vocabulary he used was very sexist and downgrading, an absolutely disgusting human being. 6. The receptionists were nice (an elder man and two young girls). Kudos for working in such an awful environment. Prizren is a nice city, and I have stayed in nicer places there. Avoid Hotel Theranda by all costs.
