Staying at S42 Hotel in Prague was an exercise in frustration from start to finish. The rooms, while unconventional, were more inconvenient than interesting. The “1.5-floor” setup featured a crawlspace with two mattresses, which might amuse kids but is impractical for adults. The sofa was too small for two people, the pillows were uncomfortably soft, and there was nowhere to store clothes - no wardrobe, no dresser, nothing. Cleaning isn’t included and costs an extra €8, yet it wasn’t even done during our stay. Arriving after 22? Prepare to fork out an additional €20 for a self-check-in process that still requires a trip to reception the next morning to sign a receipt. The breakfast experience was chaotic and far from enjoyable. Unless you show up before 8:45, expect to wait for a table. The dining area is cramped, and the food setup creates long lines. The buffet itself is nothing special, just standard items you’d find anywhere else. To top it off, the staff were unhelpful and downright rude. The only saving grace of this hotel is its location. It’s a 10-minute walk to the National Museum, five minutes to metro and tram stops, and around 25–30 minutes to Old Town or the Dancing House. The neighborhood feels safe, and there are plenty of nearby activities. Hidden fees are everywhere. Despite the price on Booking showing taxes and fees included, you’ll need to pay extra for cleaning, late check-in, and city taxes through a separate website. Payments are processed in CZK, so you may end up paying more than expected due to exchange rates or fees by bank despite Booking showed the price in local currency and included ALL taxes and fees. Overall, while the location is decent, the uncomfortable rooms, endless hidden charges, poor service, and unorganized breakfast make this hotel a place I’d never recommend.
