We know Dorset quite well but we're enchanted by this area between Beaminster, Bridport and Dorchester with its ancient churches, iron age hill fort and remnants of medieval forests. We stayed at the Three Horseshoes in Powerstock and were made to feel welcome by Emma, Ian and Joseph but also by the regulars who keep this pub alive out of season. The room was warm with a king size bed, sofa and tv and an excellent large shower in the ensuite. Beautiful views from the windows and so quiet at night you could hear the local owls chatting. Breakfast consisted of basically anything we fancied. Cooked full English? No problem. Thick creamy yoghurt and fruit? Yep. Croissants? Every day! What a treat. We ate at the pub twice and although the menu was a bit limited, the steak was huge and beautifully cooked, the sausage and mash was amongst the best I've had and the pasta with chicken and chorizo was tasty, hot and homemade. It's a shame Emma and Ian are retiring in May but provided Palmers keep it open, it's well worth seeking out for a meal or preferably an overnight stay or two. Oh and the black kitty who joined us for breakfast? Definitely helped this pub get its 5 stars from us!

Such a lovely, cosy family run pub. We were staying down the hill in a shepherds hut and ate here both nights of our stay. They made us feel so welcome and were so friendly. The food was incredible and we are going to take the hour drive for a Sunday roast soon because we know it will be worth it!!! Thank you to you all 😊

Wonderful country pub with rooms in a pretty village. Emma, Joseph and Ian were great hosts. The room was spacious and very comfortable with everything you could want. Outstanding breakfast and pub menu for dinner, beautifully cooked. Off the beaten track and worked so well for exploring Bridport and the coast.

We went for lunch before a walk. The food was excellent value, the barman couldn't have been more helpful and the ginger beer was the best ever. We will definitely be back. I know it was only a sandwich but maybe the best fresh bread and ingredients were used. Apparently the curries are superb too according to other diners.

Something of the beaten track lovely pub great room and fantastic hosts food was homely and good portions beer and drinks good range views from pub garden amazing room is out of this world well worth the money great breakfast as well will be coming again

Nice family meal. Honest pub grub. Good selection of classic dishes. Lovely local ales too. Very friendly and accommodating staff. A very good experience. Dog friendly and good for children too. Would recommend this place if you are visiting the area.

Wow what a lovely friendly pub with a veiw. Great food beers and wine !!gutted we are going home .could do with another few nights ..thankyou to Emma and Ian for making our stay memorable we will be back ..lovely rolling hills and scenic beaches near by ..will be back soon

Definitely worth seeking out this lovely pub in the peaceful setting of Powerstock, not far from Bridport, Dorset. A warm welcome, good selection of beers and wine and great food! The view from the rear terrace garden is simply stunning and so peaceful. En-suite bedrooms are huge, beautifully presented and were spotless. Great breakfast choices and plenty of it! Not our first stay here and certainly won’t be our last. Go on, give it a try.

We stayed the night here and were beautifully looked after by Joseph who welcomed us, showed us the detailed workings of the room and presented a wonderful breakfast. The room was large and clean with a very comfortable bed and sofa. The view is amazing and the area is outstanding. One night was not enough. Would definitely recommend
