The Davenport Inn

This has to be one of the best restored inns in the country. The entire house (8) bedrooms are furnished in the highest standards. T-3 hair dryer, polished nickel Bathroom fixtures and outstanding beds. Coffee, water, snacks and homemade banana bread are always available in the lower level kitchen area. Don’t worry about cleanliness this entire property is spotless. No need to look at staying anywhere else location and accommodations are the best. A visit to the Davenport Inn will for sure add to your vacation experience.

It's easy to see why this hotel keeps winning awards for being the best inn in New Hampshire--for my money, it's the best place to stay in all of New England. It's hard even to know where to begin singing its praises, but it has the kind of comfort, amenities and attention to detail that you usually get only in 5-star boutique hotels in major cities or resort towns. Portsmouth is hardly out of the way, and it has centuries' worth of historical interest, but it's not one of the big names in summer resorts. The Davenport Inn may put it on the map. Start with the fact that the house itself is gorgeous and very tastefully restored: it's light, airy, modern, yet retains all of its 17th century charm. The beds are divine, with soft luxury linens, chairs are upholstered in beautiful and cozy fabrics, and even the carpet is so soft and springy that it makes you want to walk around barefoot. The bathrooms are spacious and luxurious (mine had a standalone bathtub), and I did a double-take when realized that the little bouquet of flowers on the bathroom counter--as well as another on the little kitchenette counter where a fancy Keurig machine was waiting--were real and fresh and fragrant. Now that's attention to detail! There are also fresh-made cookies, snacks and drinks waiting 24/7 downstairs: very helpful if you have a long road trip home. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It's an absolute gem and while I was there on business, I'd come back again in a heartbeat just to relax.

We stayed at the Davenport Inn on a trip to Portsmouth visiting family. The inn had the classic new england feel - very beautiful and charming. The room we were in was lovely - the decor, the comfortable bed, and all the details considered. The communication and check in is via text versus having a reception or lobby area.

I had a wonderful stay at the Davenport. The Inn is beautiful, clean and spacious. My room was large and clean, with a huge, well equiped bathroom. Coffee, tea and snacks are available 24/7. The location was perfect, with Portsmouth in easy walking district. Highly recomment.

Beautiful inn, all the nice touches that make a visit so special. Super clean, comfortable and elegant; even accommodated a special request. From the complimentary fresh baked goods to the Bluetooth speaker in the bedroom all the details are there. I can only say good things about the Davenport Inn. Highly recommend!

Very comfortable bed & room. Spacious bathroom with wonderful amenities. Really appreciated the ice & snacks downstairs. Wonderful , central location in downtown Portsmouth. Easy walk to restaurants & shops. Free parking a big plus. Nice & quiet at night.
