Zafiro Palace Alcudia

This hotel had everything we hoped for and more. Ontop of what you would expect from a 5-star hotel, we received extra help for our daughter who has multiple allergies. They provided special food for her for each lunch & dinner she had at the hotel which made us feel more comfortable. They filled out an allergi card that we could show in each restaurant while ordering. Everyone from the waiters to the receptionists went out of their way to make us feel reassured and comfortable when it came to the allergies that we would've been worried about otherwise.

This was our second stay at the Zafiro Palace Alcúdia, we’ve also stayed at the one in Andratx. We stayed for 10 nights all inclusive. We booked a one bedroom penthouse suite, which has an upstairs balcony with a hot tub. Our little boy is 4, he hasn’t been in a hot tub before, as I’ve always been concerned with their cleanliness. However, as this is a five star resort, I assumed the hot tubs would be cleaned regularly, so he went in one day with his Dad. When my little boy got out, his white shorts were dirty from the water! My husband spoke to reception about it, who were great and sent a technician to clean it, but I didn’t let our little boy go in the hot tub again. It definitely put me off booking one of those rooms again. The stairs going up to the hot tub area were stained and definitely needed a fresh lick of paint. I do like the rooms at the Zafiro Palace hotels, I like the open plan layout. The cleaners work very hard every day, that’s obvious. But one day, the cleaner had just been and my little boy spilled something on the bathroom floor. I cleaned it up, then used an antibacterial wipe to clean the floor, the wipe was dirty. I was very surprised as I knew it had just been cleaned. Are they using a fresh mop head for each room? Because if not, then they’re simply spreading dirt and bacteria from room to room. We loved breakfast! There is so much to choose from, the staff are so friendly and they were all fantastic with our little boy. There wasn’t much choice in the buffet restaurant for lunch, but we didn’t mind as we mostly used the Veranda restaurant by the pool for lunch. The buffet restaurant for dinner was fine, a lot more choice than lunch. The Veranda restaurant for lunch was a nice setting, staff were great but we didn’t love the food. We visited the 4 a la carte restaurants, we enjoyed them all. The pools are great, plenty to keep the kids busy. Although, the sun beds are very close together and I bit tired looking. The sun beds in the Zafiro Palace Andratx are a lot more luxurious. The kids entertainment team are fantastic, they’re so enthusiastic, our little boy loved doing the club dances on an evening. There’s a large outdoor seating area, to watch the night time show and we really enjoyed the entertainment. I was disappointed with the cleanliness of our floors and the hot tub issue. There’s definitely room for improvement, with regards to the quality of food in the Veranda restaurant at lunch time. The hotel as a whole is fabulous, modern, smells great, clean and the staff are excellent. The location is fab, very close to shops, bars, restaurants and the old town is within walking distance.

Breakfast is fantastic. Hotel is so clean. Staff are so friendly. Location is great, a few mins walk to the beach and not far walk to old town. Perfect holiday with a new baby!

Overall, we had a good holiday, but I don’t believe the hotel should have five stars. Maybe 4/4.5. Our room was open-plan with the bathroom, so we had to keep toiletries out of reach of our toddler and couldn’t just shut the door to the bathroom. The corner of the sink was at toddler head height and too easy for him to run into in an open plan room. The room wasn’t cleaned as well as I’d expect for a five star hotel. The sinks were still dirty after cleaning and there was fluff and hair left on the floor. There are lots of steps on the grounds and we had to go round and through the buildings every day to get to meals with the pram. Finally, there were heavy smokers next door to us, so we couldn’t leave the terrace door open without our room smelling of cigarettes. On the plus side, the food was amazing and the bed was really big and comfortable. It’s also situated in a great location, just a 5 minute walk from the beach and there are lots of shops nearby, but I’m afraid we wouldn’t go back to that hotel.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay with Zafiro Hotels, and I'm writing this review as an FYI for anyone looking at booking a non-refundable stay that comes with "Relax & Stay." My outbound flight was canceled by Iberia Airlines, and I wasn't rebooked until 4 days later, which caused me to miss a large part of my trip and the reason for my travel to Spain. So I had to cancel my trip to Spain, which included my stay with Zafiro. Per the trip cancellation policy, this event should be covered per the policy covered loss event #26. (#26: cancellation of the trip by the insured in the event of a delay of the air transport exceeding 24 hours that prevents the fulfillment of the purpose of the trip or if more than half of its duration has already elapsed. The cancellation expenses of the hotel reservation will be reimbursed, provided they have not been previously paid by the transport company). I filed a claim with the insurance company, and not only did they deny my claim with no basis, but they also made up terms that don't exist in the policy documents. I punted out their error multiple times, and now they have stopped responding to my emails and calls. I'm in the process of considering other legal options. The "Relax & Stay" travel policy is a scam, and you shouldn't rely on it reimbursing you for a non-refunable stay. The customer service department at Zafiro has been as helpful as they can, but unfortunately, they were not able to help with the travel insurance company that Zafiro contracts with for trip cancellation policies. That is why I have to give them a 1 star rating, as I contracted with Zafiro and they marketed "Relax & Stay" as covering flight cancellations, which their insurance company doesn't honor.   

Very good family resort. Excellent food and premium drinks, pools good for all ages, entertainment good, staff excellent. 6th time visited. Key point - great clientele as expected for the premiums paid. Looking forward to returning soon.

Really Nice Hotel. Just a shame about the outdoor entertainment. Not everyone wants it. I didn't want it & needed sleep for a training exam i had the next day. No escaping it till 10-10.30pm

Better then OK, next time maybe super, there are always room for being better. Prizes little to High

Hotel is excellent, we would go back again a couple of things to be prepared for though: 1) a la cartes at the beginning of June only open 2/3 nights a week and the grill was closed opened June 14th. Really hard to get booked in. We did in the end but had to complain. Not many spots in each for the earlier bookings if you have children. 2) sunbeds very close together and not many of the nicer sunbeds (mostly the original) 3) coffee shop doesn’t open till 9.30 only place for coffee is breakfast opens at 7.30 (coffee machine in room, so depends on your preference) Buffett food was great, service fantastic, looking forward to going again
