This review is long overdue. This bed & breakfast is the perfect example of why my wife and I prefer B&Bs to hotels. The owners, Jorge and Maria, made me and my wife feel right at home in their house, conveniently located in the center of historic Ponta Delgada. Each morning, while we enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast, they asked us about our previous day’s sightseeing and that day’s plans to explore the island of Sao Miguel. Jorge produced personally designed maps with his photos of the highlights, and he told us the most scenic roads to take and the closest parking to hiking trailheads. Twice, when we set up our breakfast at tables in the sun, they shifted us to others in the shade on their gorgeous patio. He recommended sights we weren’t aware of and steered us away from others. And he recommended several restaurants where the local people eat, one of which we went to twice. We had the largest room in the house, with private bath and a balcony overlooking the patio and garden, which Maria tended to with care. Jorge told us about a free parking lot a few blocks away. All in all, I cannot imagine our trip to the Azores without our stay at Casa da Cidade and our hosts, Jorge and Maria.

I had a wonderful stay at Casa da Cidade. The property is perfectly located and very clean. The breakfast every morning was locally sourced and a wonderful way to start each day. The hosts are very gracious and help with planning your day or making suggestions on things to see. I would have missed these incredible stops, had it not been suggested to me. Hightly recommend.

Fabulous host and hostess; they are so gracious, welcoming and helpful. The house is lovely, especially the garden, and provides a calming atmosphere. Everything is clean, well-kept and inviting. And the breakfast is all locally sourced. The home is centrally located but not in the open. The best reason to go to Ponta Delgada!
