Casa do Contador - Suites & Pool

This is a gem of a place. Superb choice. Staff are off the charts friendly and helpful. Apartment hotel. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which consisted, a bedroom, good size living room for two with kitchenette. Spotlessly clean, everything in great condition. Close to the town to walk in. Here's a tip - you will need a rental car to explore the island, and so you will need to park it at night. You can find spots to park after about 5:30 PM fairly close and free, near the hotel. In the morning and most of the day, parking can be challenging. But we always managed it. In the same street on the same side of the road, heading toward town, try the bar for a great deal. Beer and wine cheap and they do a very good burger and fries. we had a few nights in there. Friendly people, cheap meal. The Casa do Contador will not disappoint. 100% happy.

We booked one of the smaller suites and it was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our time here. The balcony overlooked the courtyard in the back, and the kitchen had pretty much everything you would need to cook a basic meal. Most units appear to require stairs to access. There are also cats that live on site, and in our unit they were able to jump onto the balcony (we enjoyed this). In the mornings, an excellent breakfast basket was delivered to our door (bread, fruits, eggs, yogurt, milk, juice, granola, etc). In addition, there was a good espresso maker in the lobby. The place is walking distance from downtown locations - perhaps 10-15 minutes from the water front. Parking is a bit of a challenge, although the hotel provided a map of the surrounding streets where there was free and paid parking available. Finding a space may require some driving around, although we found spots were easier to come by in the evenings. If using a paid spot, it is possible to feed the meter after hours and have the payment carry over until the morning. We had a slight issue on our last day where the next days guests were able to enter our room prior to us checking out (apparently they had the same code and figured they would check if the room might be ready early). This may be an area for improvement (perhaps cycle room door codes?). Otherwise a fantastic stay and would highly recommend.

We spent almost a week at Casa do Contador and had a wonderful stay there. - Hospitality: great expierence before, during and after the stay. Ligia at the front desk was always happy to help, gave us tips for trips and restaurants, local specialities and hidden places. - Location: awesame location with a lot of positivity, furnishings chosen with very good taste, matching the history of the house. The pool area istn't big, but enough and we spent there one beatiful aftrernoon (with cats, which are really georgius). - Breakfast: amazing breakfast basket provided every morning in front of the door. Delicius and frehs food, milk, juice, bread and fruits. Our kids loved the granola with provided youghurt. Personally i love the sustainibility idea mostly, no waste! - Parking spaces: information is provided by Casa do Contador, where to park. We usually parked 50m away from the hotel and had no problems with finding any free parking spaces. - Across the street is a small backery with delicius croissants with chocolade, you must try them! The have alos another pasteries worth to try. ♡♡♡♡We had a lovely stay in Ponta Delgada and Sao Miguel, Casa do Contador maked it perfect!!! ♡♡♡♡ Thank you!

A nice place to stay although there’s a big variance in flat sizes. We got lucky but my sister less so!

Casa do Contador was well located in Ponta Delgada with all downtown activities within walking distance. The property didn’t feel like it was in the city, with a quaint outdoor space. We loved the cats that roamed around. The room itself was clean and spacious and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay (fridge, sink, iron)

Comfortable apartment in quiet area. Easy walk to bars, restaurants and shops. Staff extremely helpful.

Great location, clean and modern decor, communicative support staff. Only issue I had: a slightly damp smell in my unit on the ground floor. Would still recommend but advise the host to fix this asap. Otherwise lovely stay in a fantastic location.

There is no lift and we were in unit 6 which was on the 3rd (top) floor. Keep in mind, each floor has 10 foot ceilings. So I had to carry 250 lbs. of luggage up and down 45 stairs. These aren't all modern stairs. Some are super steep and also taller steps than usual. not something for the faint of heart to be sure. There's only one little bar/cafe in the area, otherwise you have to walk about a half mile to get to any restaurants. The room was clean and it was nice but the views were less than ideal. If you're on a budget and don't mind humping your luggage up and down stairs, it would be a good place but it was not really what we were looking for.
