Bed bugs present at this resort Upon a local friend’s recommendation, we decided to give Anassa a try on our annual summer vocation. We booked a two bedroom suite and stayed for 6 nights. The resort is stunning and service prior to checkout has been nothing short of wonderful. The ground staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. For example, the blinds let in a lot of light in the morning so our young children woke up too early and with the slight jet lag, we weren’t well rested. When learned about this, the staff really went out of their way to fix that issue which we hugely appreciated. Service in restaurants and housekeeping was fantastic, we couldn’t fault it. However, all of this was ruined by our experience at the front desk upon checkout when I told them that I had woken up with multiple bites that looked like bed bug bites. Being someone really prone to bed bug bites, I’ve unfortunately been bitten multiple times and can easily identify the pattern of the bites. When I brought this to the front manager’s attention, he told me that this has never happened and that he was going to investigate it as it would be a serious issue. I was then offered to wait for them to investigate. I then told them that they may or may not find the bugs as they can easily disguise in mattresses or any small creases and even if they could not find any, the fact is that this happened at their hotel (we had not left the hotel), and therefore I should be entitled to some form of compensation. By that stage, the head of housekeeping was brought into the conversation to tell me that there was no way it could be bed bugs and perhaps I was allergic to their linen, which I found to be an almost insulting excuse as this was my sixth night staying there and any allergic reaction would have happened much sooner. Upon my husband showing them pictures of bed bug bites online, they once again denied me by saying my bites weren’t red enough be to bed bug bites (which they now have turned really red days later), which again was an uninformed and somewhat insulting response to my complaint. The manager also argued and spoke over me in a completely defensive tone. By that stage, I was flabbergasted and upset and ready to leave as I had two young children waiting and another resort to travel to. At any resort, a gesture of financial compensation of some sort would have been offered due to the fact this happened at their resort, whether bed bugs or ‘linen allergy’, but I was instead told it was impossible and that I was free to post whatever review I wanted, so here I am, writing an honest review. I know management will deny and say they tried everything to offer a solution such as finding me a doctor (not appreciating the delay would have caused us with two young children waiting) or sending us a meaningless and defensive email to cover themselves post our departure (which they did). It is up to guests to make their own judgement, and I wish this had neve
