Medora Auri Family Beach Resort

it's our first time in Croatia and this hotel is a real discovery. Marija from sales directed us to the building next to the hotel and that was a complete hit. the children went to the pool alone to get ice cream, the road is closed to traffic, that's for sure. we are definitely coming back.❤️❤️

The hotel is great for families, there is nothing to complain about the services. BUT: it is neccesary to have rules on the beach because people not only occupy the first row with chairs and towels and they leave it unoccupied by noon (problem already described in many comments), but they are effective blocking (!!!) the access to the beach with extra umbrellas or personal belongings, so you cant pass them!!! Basically you have to make a biiiig detour to get to the beach from your back row chair, because everything is blocked by the ones in the front row. This is so rude and so inacceptable, especially when that beach is full of children. You took the first row, i get it, it’s rude but it is what it is. But you cant be THAT rude to deny others access to the beach or to make them Lose time with detouring because your lack of manners. So the manangement of the hotel must regulate this aspect because it seems that common sense doesnt work here.

Review by Scandinavian family with two kids aged 9 and 11. Location was perfect for Podgora right at the beach promenade and close to what you get here. Sunset every evening and clear water. Hotel provide towels and sun-beds but you have to up 0600 morning to get your sun-beds and place you towels. The longer you waited the longer back you came. At 9:30 all was gone. We saw many times people came 0600 went back to sleep and then around 11 came to the beach.. Food at hotel was under average. Overcooked/undercooked meat, pasta, dry fish. Didn’t find one potato or fries that were crispy. Maybe you get what you pay for. To sum it up: quantity ＞ quality. Decent variety but there were so many people. We tried different times to eat, but way too many people and it was loud inside. The music was so bad(lounge style) load from morning to evening. One machine that provided soda and the drinking glasses could maybe take 125ml.Hotel personal at dining area took your plates when you ate your last bite. We found it pretty stressful and annoying though we have experienced it other places this was exceptional and interrupting us many times under dinner. Hotel rooms were clean and good service there. Fitness had bad air conditioning. Some cardio machine. Up to 10kilo dumbbells. A barbell and a technogym machine for leg press and push/pull which were of newer standard but bad in my opinion. Pool we didn’t event try. So many people and impossible to change from beach to pool since as said … you have to grab your place early if you want to have a sun-bed and umbrella. Shopping in the mini markets at the promenade can provide with the simplest you need but was really disappointed with Podgora versus for instance Cavtat where we found the restaurants and atmosphere must more to our liking. Will I come back? Never and I would not recommend others with so many better alternatives.

I booked a room with a garden view, but ended up with a view of the car park. The room is small, the bathroom is even smaller. I would like to complain about the poor housekeeping in the building Mimosa. - I waited for cleaning since 8 am today - I went into the room at 1:50 pm, it was not cleaned yet. I came back at 2:00 pm and found that the cleaning was finished - The floors were dirty - The toilet, shower stall and sink were not cleaned. Two glasses and a used cup were left dirty. - The liquid was gone by the sink, no new one was put in - Only the towels were changed. I've been here for three days already and the bed was made once, the trash was taken out twice and the towels were changed once. No cleaning was done at all. I paid 1600 euros for 6 days and I want to receive the corresponding service.

You know that feeling when you realise you just did something for the last time….? Jumping from a 10 meter cliff at 45 years of age, hurting you back and understanding you are to old to do that, or a clothing you don’t feel well wearing and throw it away just to make sure you don’t accidentally wear it again. Well, this hotel will help you make a decision for life not to book any similar hotels ever again. It’s huge, loud, crowded, totally without identity, tasteless food, expensive, grey, hard and with a general quite unwelcoming atmosphere. We booked 1 week with a family of 5 with two rooms via TUI. All considered adults in pricing as the youngest kid is 13. In the room (which turned out to be in a different and even more container-like building) there was a double bed and a mattress on the floor. When complaining about having paid full price and being asked to sleep on the floor the guy in the reception just shrugged and told me to go away with a cold look and talking frustrated muttering to himself in Croatian. The first impression with a grumpy, anti-serviceminded and arrogant receptionist turned out to also be the somewhat lasting impression during our week at this hotel. A typical example of how lots of the staff always seem annoyed that the hotel actually have guests. You feel like you are always disturbing even though you are just in the same part of the hotel. (Worth mentioning is that the always smiling cleaning staff were super friendly.) In the overcrowded and very loud restaurant you will want to sit on the balcony towards the sea. The issue is there is a heavy balcony door moving inwards which is hard to operate with a plate of food and maybe a cup of coffee. There are always staff standing there talking to each other but almost no one even attempt to acknowledge your presence and need for help with the door. The bread is dry, the risotto overcooked, the bacon just cooked, there is a lot of choices, but almost all tastes nothing or rather bad. It’s big, boring, lots and still nothing you feel you want to eat, and the staff is just standing around sighing over you being there. Outside the hotel there are several ok restaurants which we ended up going to even though we had paid for having dinner included in the hotel price. The sea is great (the main reason for choosing Croatia in favour of other countries around the Mediterranean Sea) but the beach is rather crowded and every day, for 45-60 minutes, the Animation Team (oh, how I cherish the thought of never again staying at a hotel where there is an “Animation Team”…..!) plays extremely loud and horrible music to the whole beach, while trying to persuade more than 7 people to join the water aerobics. To end this long text I would like to thank Medora Auri for helping me finally decide to never ever visit a hotel in this category again. Great hotel with a good localisation, by the beach! We stayed there last year in July for a week and had a fab time! We had two rooms connected with two bathrooms , our girls loved it! Our half board included the drinks (like a wine, bear and soft drinks) for a dinner in the price! Amazing! We would like to say a BIG thank you to Petra, Natalia and Luka for looking after us and our gluten free daughter( pancakes every morning and chocolate cake for a dinner). Only what need to be improved it is an animation team.

Mixed feelings! Pros - modern hotel, pretty area, close to shops/restaurants/bars, range of food available for half board Cons - Sunbed wars - no staff around the pool supervising means people putting towels on sun beds ridiculous early and then not actually using the beds all day. Others greedily saving beds at the pool and on the beach-stopping others using them. People screaming and shouting at each other accusing them of ‘stealing their beds’. Smoking - people smoking around the pool where kids were playing Family resort- however the children’s shallow pool is not accessible by lift and therefore you have to carry the pushchair down a flight of steep stone steps. The main pool full of children and very noisy while the kids quite often empty Restaurants- very hot and again not staffed adequately enough and so finding a table was challenging. Rooms - main hotel seems far nicer however not sure how these are allocated. We were placed in one of the 3 blocks which were far less impressive and away from the hotel. These were up lots of steps - again difficult access for pushchairs/families This hotel has masses of potential but actually as a ‘family’ resort it’s weak. Desperately needs a decent manager to take control of the simplest of things such as sun bed policing.

A nice hotel, close to the beach, with an excellent breakfast, nice and serviceminded staff and beautiful surroundings and view! It would have been an easy topscore on everything had it not been for the early morning race for sunbrellas and beds. Some are very greedy and cover their beds with more sunbrellas than there is room for, it’s a early morning race to get beds and especially sunbrellas, and many beds are left for hours and hours without being used with towels or personal stuff occupying them. One morning all the sunbrellas were taken, where som had taken more than they could have use for, and both families with small children, and a few old couples could not find any. When asked to share, people refused to part with any of theirs, even though they clearly had to many. This need some more regulation, and the topscore is within reach if it gets adressed by the hotel.

On-premise restaurants: 5/5 Breakfast does get busy (to be fair, they show morning “waves” when they are the most busy), but it is plentiful and yummy. Dinner on-premise restaurants have a great variety as well. 4. Pool area: n/a We stayed at the beach most of the time, which is rocky (so bring your water shoes). Family pools are there and look nice. 5. Service:5/5 Overall weighted score: 5.0 out of 5.0 A few comments: 1) Rent a car since you are between Split and Dubrovnik and would want to drive around and absorb the local beauty and the views. There are ziplines and other activities in the area. 2) The shower is amazing, and the bed is super comfy. 3) Some mention things like smoking everywhere. Yes, people smoke on their balconies, so you’d have to close your sliding doors at time. Yes, people smoke when sit outside on the beaches and outdoor restaurants/ terraces. Would we come back? 100% Yes
