Our issues mainly revolve around the issue of our room being on the top floor (4th) so if you are issued a room number starting with a 4 and you find your room too hot, my advise it to ask to change rooms if the air conditioning is fixed to heating only - no cooling. Firstly, the heating does not shut off when you reduce the temperature when you decrees the thermostat temperature. The grille was still discharging heat with a room temperature of 23*C and a set point of 17*C. I had to turn the controller 'Off' to stop the heat into the room as it was unbearable trying to get ready before going out for the night. 2nd issue, when we did then have showers, the room started to condensate uncontrollably but I thought I'll leave the fun running in the bathroom to clear the moisture and to remove the heat from the room as we got into bed. Sweating in the bed, I thought the environment in the room was ridicules so I went to open the window only to find the windows are locked. With 4 of us in the room, no natural ventilation, excessive humidity and the AC locked into heating mode by the central controller, it ruined any chance of proper sleep. When I got out of bed in the morning, I looked at the extract grille in the bathroom only to see the filter was blocked solid. It had never been cleaned which explained why the heat and moisture from the bathroom consumed the bedroom making the conditions unbearable to sleep in. Add in the fact the top floor is a light weight timber construction added to the top of the existing building, every time some one walked down the corridor, we knew about it as you could hear every little noise. Ever door closing, every foot step in the corridor. All in, it is another crap nights sleep in a Premier Inn more so because of a cheap extension to an existing building. Factor in the lack of maintenance of the extract fan filter, and the noise issues, it ruins any proper sleep. By the design of the top floor, I assume this issue is only on that floor being the sub-standard extension to the top of the building - no natural ventilation and over heating of the internal spaces. On a side, note, given how cheap the room was, maybe they should charge a bit more to improve the maintenance. As a positive, the shower was brilliant. Plentiful, spacious and nice and hot. The breakfast is better quality then was you usually get at a premier inn. The hotel in general was very clean. The drinks at the bar the night before were really cold and enjoyable. Would I stay here again, yes but I would refuse to have a room on the top floor.
