Let’s start with the good: nice front desk staff, new floor in the room, fridge in the room, new towels, the window opened. But let’s explore further. I paid almost $300 for our room. First thing I did was open the window to air the chemical smell from the new floor and the screen fell out. No big deal. But the room was not close to what a guest would hope for after paying this much. Damaged wallpaper, no full-length space to hang clothes, no decor, narrow room, no safety catch on door, fingerprints and smudges everywhere. The place is very noisy. Paper thin walls. We could hear various guests in surrounding rooms swearing, yelling at kids, blaring the TV, being drunk and stupid in the hallway. It all finally died down around 11:00pm. The pool is ok, especially for younger children. However, the water slide has a broken seam and cut my child’s arm twice. We reported it to the lifeguard who was intermittently texting on his cell phone instead of keeping his eyes on the water at all times. The restaurant is awful. Possibly the worst hotel-adjacent restaurant I’ve been to. Our food was pretty much inedible, except for the hamburger and fries. Gigantic slab of mealy fried fish and soft fries; mashed potatoes with a smoky and spicy sauce on them; wilted salad; sautéed spinach with so much salty broth I threw it away. This place is the classic bait and switch: grand looking outside and with and inviting lobby, but dingy and small-scale once you go further inside. For half the price, I guess it’s ok. But not for the premium they charged us.
