Visited these apartments for the first time as an extended family trip. The apartments have two bedrooms, a small kitchen, bathroom, and living area. There are some positives and some negatives. The positives: 1. The balconies and in particular the ground floor terraces are very spacious. 2. The pool area is fully fenced and only accessible through gates which provides reassurance for those with young children. 3. The building is very sheltered and is a “sun trap” which gets the sun all day. This was great for our visit in December - but may be very hot in summer as the rooms have no fans or air conditioning. 4. The building is adjacent to a small mall with two supermarkets and several bars and restaurants. 5. The staff were helpful and responsive. The negatives: 1. The accommodation is dated and in poor condition. For example, some of the external areas are fenced off because the decking or paving is broken and hasn’t been repaired. The interior of the apartments is a bit grubby and could do with fresh paint and more attention to maintenance and upkeep. The shower head unit in our room kept slipping off the wall, the toilet did not flush properly, a bedroom door handle was loose, the microwave was behind a timber facade but the door of the microwave would catch against the timber…there was a long list of these types of problems. 2. While the pool is fenced off, there is a gap under the gate that our 1 year old and 3 year old could climb under. 3. The apartments are next to Riu Palace hotel which had loud music every night until midnight. 4. At times we needed an umbrella on the terrace but were told we could not use the umbrellas at the poolside, we suggested we could buy a beach umbrella but we were told that was not allowed. The reason is unclear…the terraces should have umbrellas. 5. The reception is not open more than 4 days a week. Check-in was manageable because we had emailed the company on the day we were travelling and got instructions but otherwise would have been stuck. We saw other families arrive during our stay and struggle to gain access. 6. The accommodation can be difficult for those with mobility problems or young children in a pram as every level requires you either to go down steps (ground floor) or up steps to the three upper floors. There is no lift. 7. Depending on your priorities, the location is good or not so good - 200m to the the promenade at maspalomas dunes, but to get to the port and beach you must walk down and back up the 82 steps to the road - a problem with young children and pram. There is a longer route around mostly flat streets but it takes a half hour. All in all, the property has a few downsides.
