The Lodge at Moosehead Lake

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge at Moosehead Lake. We chose the Bear Room for our weekend stay and the views are better than you expect them to be. We enjoyed coffee on the private deck in the morning and watching the magnificent sunsets at night. The food at the onsite restaurant was exceptional and the staff are so friendly, helpful and professional. You can immediately tell they want you to enjoy your time at the property to the fullest. Will be going back to enjoy the foliage in the fall.

The view is wonderful of Moosehead Lake. We dined for 2 nights at their restaurant 368. The food and service were well above expectations for the area. Fine dining gourmet cuisine with attentive service. The mussels were some of the best we ever tasted. My chicken was cooked just right and bread pudding desert was delicious. Breakfast was carefully prepared, good portions and delicious. I recommend highly. Absolutely wonderful experience! The room was lovely, and very comfortable, with thoughtful touches. The friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure that every need was anticipated and met, including arranging dairy and gluten free menu options for the delicious included breakfast. We added the Moose Safari to our itinerary, and had a fabulous morning photographing wild moose with our fun and knowledgeable guide. We cannot wait to plan another visit to this beautiful property!

My husband and I spent a week in Maine divided between the coast and Moosehead Lake. We spent three nights at the Lodge in the Baxter Suite. The room was absolutely lovely! The bed was comfortable and it was great having the extra living space to stretch out in. We spent July 4th on our porch drinking wine and enjoying a picnic dinner. A couple of bucks even came wandering into the grassy area. The gardens are stunning and watching the sunset was breathtaking. The highlight of our trip though was the moose safari! Ashley our guide was fantastic! She has really dedicated her life to being knowledge and such a professional. I cannot say enough good things about her. We met her at 4:50am and she immediately greeted us with hot coffee. We drove a ways out to a special location and quietly climbed in a canoe. Not 5 minutes later we saw a young moose feeding in the lake. We watched him for about 10 minutes until he decided to leave. Ashley paddled us around so quietly we were gliding across the mirror-like surface for a couple of hours seeing loons, ducks, an eagle, a mink, turtles and all sorts of flora. We were so quiet it was quite otherworldly - and the bugs were not too bad (although I highly recommend some spray before you get in the canoe). Afterwards, we had a picnic breakfast of yogurt, granola, fruit, etc, coffee, juice. Ashley told us lots about the area and the wildlife. Fantastic!!! Overall it was a great experience. The downsides… the food in the area is a challenge! We were there Sunday - Wednesday over the 4th of July. I think there are about 5 restaurants or so in Greenville and all serve pub-like food. We did not eat at the lodge Sunday night and although it sounded wonderful the price is quite high. We ate at dockside which was mediocre at best. We had a super hard time getting a table in town on Monday night because it was so crowded!! We walked into Stress free moose at 5:30 - before I could even say anything to the hostess she said “No. We are full.” They had a band/karaoke in the back so we went outside to just relax and hoped to get on their list later. Nope. They were full all night. My husband went in separately and they put him on the list. But we never were called and at 7pm when I asked how we were looking they said they were done for the night. We then tried Kelly’s, Rowboat Joe’s and Dockside and they were all full. We went to Jamo’s at 7:50 and he said he was turning the ovens off and we could only order cold sandwiches. We decided to run to the trading post minutes before they closed to grab some groceries for the night. The next night we didn’t even bother with the restaurants and had a picnic dinner instead. I emailed Bev Monday night to ask for her suggestions about the food situation but never got a response. The best food we had during our stay was breakfast at the lodge. But even that needed some work. French toast with creme Anglaise and honey sauce with apples and sausage sounds amazing but the French toas

Great stay, super friendly staff beautiful property, fantastic views, delicious food. The picnic lunch was awesome on a hike to Prong Pond. Anniversary dinner at 368 Maine was fantastic. What more could we ask for? Will definitely return

Wonderful accommodations! Every thing you need is close by! Dinner at 368 was amazing and such a great surprise and treat. The pre fixe menu was wonderful and Un expected in the region. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. Amber and her staff attend to every need before you ask. Amber is super and so attentive from beginning to end of your stay. Loved my porch and gas fireplace. Hope to return!

We just returned from a 2 night stay at the Lodge at Moosehead Lake. My wife and I can't say enough about the property and service. Everything about the Lodge and the guest service provided by Bev, Larry and their staff was exceptional. Accomodations are much more spacious (we were in the Moose Room) than most B&B's we have visited and stayed. The common areas and grounds overlooking the lake are exceptionally maintained. Watching the sunset from the rockers on the deck, then sitting around the fire pit was magical and relaxing. Thank you Bev and Larry for the fabulous experience! Dennis & Lorraine

The room was great. We had a beautiful view from our deck in the carriage house. The 5 course meal in the restaurant was very good. The staff was also very friendly and always willing to help out if you needed anything. We had a great time.

Great spot to spend a couple of quiet days of hiking and fishing. Rooms were quiet and comfortable. Very close to downtown Greenville and Rockwood. Beautiful views of this stunning lake. The owners are on site and very accommodating and the GM Amber was excellent, always there to help get what you need. Will try to get back soon.
