Cantunera SicilianRoom

Cantunera Sicilian Room is the end building of a long block along Via Salvatore Principato. Its location is excellent, at the edge of the historic center and very convenient for visiting - turn the corner, go up Via Roma, and you’ll get to every significant site in the historic center within 15 minutes. It is also very convenient if you drive, as there is free parking in front of it and you don’t have to brave the maze of streets in the historic center. Cantunera Sicilian Room is newly opened in the spring of 2023; the Bed and Breakfast is beautifully decorated top to bottom, and spotlessly clean. We were in the Castellina Room up two flight of stairs from the landing; there’s another, Canalli Room, on the same floor, a third room one flight down (thus just one flight of stairs from the landing). The fourth room is down a short flight of steps from the landing (which has a door that opens to the little car park), on the same level as the warm and cozy breakfast room which has a second door to the outside. If you have mobility issues, let the host and owner Christine know and she will help with your bags. Our room was lovely, with a small desk with a coffee machine and a mini fridge under it, a large wardrobe with a safe, and an absolutely gorgeous bathroom. We very much enjoyed the rain shower. The free Wi-Fi was very good too. Christine was charming and very helpful. She served us a lovely breakfast (having asking us our choice of time the day before) including bread, salumi and cheese, and fresh orange juice and coffee, and cooked us eggs to order (sunny side up in our case). She also made biancomangiare (Sicilian milk pudding - her grandmother’s recipe) the night before, and brought it out as a farewell surprise. We were very touched. We very much enjoyed our conversations with Christine (thanks to Google Translate as we have zero Italian beyond “buongiorno” and “grazie”). For the cost (best of our entire two weeks trip in Sicily), Cantunera Sicilian Room is excellent value. We highly recommend it and will look forward to returning there.
