I've stayed at this Premier Inn several times, and it used to be quite good, but it has gone downhill. Last time we stayed there was just before the adjoining Paul Pry pub closed to the public. Both the hotel and pub were looking tired and rundown, and we were told they were closing down at the end of the week for a refit, but that obviously didn't happen. It's difficult to find anything positive to say about our 1 night stay. When we arrived, we were offered a drink and snack. The snack was a small packet of tiny cheese cubes. The drink, which we declined, was a choice of red, or warm white wine, which had probably been on the reception counter all day. Got to the room to find just one bath towel and one hand towel between us. More towels were provided but we shouldn't have had to ask. Room was freezing as the window had been left open. Toilet didn't flush very well. Bed had a sag in the middle. Wifi, as usual was unreliable, had to keep logging in. We ate with friends but went to the Paul Pry for a drink on our return. It was almost empty, and very cold, had to ask for the heating to be turned on. We had a couple of drinks and some chips and realised later we'd been overcharged by at least £5 but as we didn't get a receipt we couldn't prove it. Breakfast wasn't very good. The young waitress did her best but they were short staffed. Tables weren't very clean. The cooked breakfast, supposedly cooked to order, was cold and the sausages burnt. All in all, it was very poor and we will not be staying there again.
