Apartamentos turísticos Jardines del Plaza

I actually booked at Acuasol through RCI after they said it would be open but was relocated a month before arrival with an email saying it would be closed. A day after arrival I went into the Acuasol reception finding the hotel fully open. Jardines is a mile north of Acuasol and there are no bars/restaurants nearby. In April most were closed anyway apart from one bar La Isla near Acuasol that was open till midnight. The best supermarket within walking distance is the Eurospar half a mile away. Refurbishment was still going on during the day but the soundproofing was good. One end of the resort is by the main road and to get to Plaza Suites reception you have to walk the length of the resort and back up to the road. Bus stops are right outside (most journeys €1.25) and car park opposite. Strangely the air conditioning wasn't working. The apartments are duplexes. Upstairs it was centralised though vents but downstairs was a new standalone unit. The technician couldn't fix it and reception told me they were in the process of switching from hot to cold and there was no a/c anywhere. The utility fee is €40. There was nothing to clean with (apart from a washing up kit) and I had to request a dustpan and brush. The stairs were shiny marble, very slippery with sharp edges and I fell down them on the first night as they turn at the top and bottom. Only 1 TV in the lounge area downstairs which you can't see from the kitchen diner (or bedrooms!). The microwave had no stand to use the grill option and the extractor fan didn't seem to be connected. The phone didn't work so you couldn't call reception. So a few teething issues. Excellent fridge/freezer though. The cleaners seem to come once early on Wednesday and if you have the "Do not disturb" notice on the door they don't come back. I received a letter to ask reception for anything but it was delivered later when the "Make up the room" sign was on the door so they could've come in then. Area-wise Peñíscola, Castellón & the Parc Natural de la Serra d'Irta are great but nearby Benicarló & Vinarós not so touristy. Not very easy to get to Barcelona by train. If flying in to Valencia it's worth staying there for a few days and taking the train up for less than €10 each way.

it was a very nice place, we had a pleasant time and can fully recommend it with swimming pool just in front of the appartment and a quick way to the beach. a little far away from Peñiscola city, but there were buses.

We arrived late in the evening and found that there was no entrance to drive in to the property, After a confused telephone call, it turns out this property is actually part of a resort operated by ZT Hotels. Turns out that there is a massive hotel/suite resort next door to the apartment units. We booked this many months ago through RCI relying on the unit description. It was supposed to be a two bedroom unit with two baths and a kitchen. We were told however that the Apartmentos had a "problem" and that we were being booked into a "suite" in the hotel property, So we are in a one bedroom unit with one bath and no kitchen. The unit is nice as far as it goes just not what we booked, We did walk through the apartment units next door. There were some people on one side but the "problem" that they mentioned is that 1/2 of the units are under major renovations,. This has clearly been ongoing for a very long time. It seems to me that they could have notified us that we would be unable to get the accommodations we requested. There could have been 4 of us booked for the 2 bedroom unit, The suite we got would not have accommodated us. Fortunately it is just me and my wife, It also says that it is air conditioned but apparently it is not hot enough for it to be turned on. Maybe at the end of the month. I am not sure how hot it needs to be but today it was 27C. They also do not have a restaurant or coffee bar that opens before 10 am. So you cannot get a coffee in the morning unless you want to spend 15 euros to get a buffet breakfast with an unbelievably loud and massive group of people. The food was marginal at best and there is no alternative to the buffet. They suggested we go off property, which means driving into town, They don't even provide a coffee maker although there is a bar fridge, Finally, we asked why our room was not cleaned and we were told that RCI guest rooms only get cleaned on Wednesdays. Overall, this trip is very disappointing,

This is the second time we are at this resort. We enjoyed very much. The unit is good and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful in everything. There are pools on site and also right on the seafront. It is best to have a car attached to visit nearby cities.

Out dated, bad smell in units…the hotel doesn’t follow up. Old…boring place. Mainly elderly people, buss loads every day. Very low buffe standard. Not delicate, no taste. Dumped in buckets. A glass of red wine was ice cold…they treat the old people bad in this way…this place is really needs a new set of staff who cares. Sorry I’ll not be back… I’m 64, but I care and react when I see such doing of being never mind. Have worked also in a hotel…this hotel is terrible!

Great location, pools, beaches and beautiful Peniscola all nearby. Unexpected fees for electricity and parking. The unit was clean with balconies overlooking the pools that was very njce. Unfortunately , the pullout couch was poor quality and very uncomfortable, definitely not for adults. The 2 bedroom unit is well suited for 4 people rather than 6 based on our experience. Overall nice resort in a great loactjon. Historic Peniscola with it’s beautiful narrow, winding streets, shops, restaurants and castle with gorgeous views was a highlight.
