Roc Oberoy - Adults Only

A gem of a hotel, welcomed by friendly staff, immaculate room fully equipped with fridge and air conditioning, shower gel and hairdryer. The food was delicious, I’m a vegetarian and my husband is a big meat eater! Plenty of choice for us both, fresh breads, salads and selection of vegetable dishes and a live grill for meats. Tasty soups, pasta and cheeses available at every meal. If we’d have known the food was going to be so good we’d have gone all inclusive and not half board. Very attentive chefs and waiting staff. The pool and jacuzzi were lovely, quiet and peaceful. Location was great, a couple of minutes from the beach and boulevard.

My wife and I (both early 60’s) have just returned from a fabulous week at the Hotel Oberoy - one of the best hotels we have been in for a long time. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about it. We were greeted at reception with a glass of cava and there were two ice cold bottles of water in our fridge in the room. Our room was spotless and obviously recently refurbished. We paid a tiny bit extra for a balcony overlooking the pool and it was well worth it. The beds were comfy and there was free aircon. The bathroom had a fab shower, as hot or as cold as you could want with loads of pressure. The room was cleaned every day. Breakfast was buffet style with a really good range of hot or cold food constantly replenished. Breakfast can be taken indoors or out and goes until 10.30 which is great if you’ve had a bit of a late night. Talking of which the bar is open until midnight but not noisy. A big shoutout to Edouard and Kingsley there. The pool was spotless and loungers always available (reserving is not allowed). There was a lifeguard on duty all the time the pool was open and it was cleaned daily. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly without exception. The Oberoy is at one end of the “strip” just a very short walk from many restaurants, bars and shops as well as three spotless beaches. The town predominantly caters for German tourists but we never once felt out of place. We went on the dolphin watching boat trip and had really nice time. We look forward to returning here soon.

My partner and I stayed here in the middle of May and after deliberating, 3 out of 5 is fitting. Positives: The beds were very comfortable firm mattresses. Room was cleaned well and towels changed every day if requested. Instant hot water to a very good temperature. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Cannot fault them at all...they assisted with finding a sink plug and fixed another issue with the sink the same day. It had a lift for luggage (albeit tiny) which was the first time we've had one abroad, very handy! The room was a little smaller than expected. It had a smaller wardrobe with a few hangers and a small chest of drawers. You had to fully open the wardrobe doors wide otherwise the drawers wouldn't open. It had the new safe in there as well as the old safe (taking up room). As someone else stated in a recent review, the air conditioning didn't work which was frustrating, we left the balcony door open each night to let air in. The fridge was big enough for a large 7L bottle of water and another 2L bottle. Balcony was nice with a table and chairs overlooked the pool. The keycard was fiddly to get the door unlocked. The breakfast was good, generally the same stuff every day, but a good variety of eggs, meat, potatoes, fruit and pastries. The dinner was varied, mostly beige dinners as expected at an all inclusive. The first few days we're good, then from Wednesday seemed to fall into the same AI category of overly salty or overly processed chewy food. We mainly stuck with salad and the cous cous. Then, one evening I found some uncooked chicken on a skewer and put me off eating there the last couple of days. I made a member of the team aware. We were out most days so we only had lunch once at the hotel which was good due to the slow cooked steak stew but unfortunately didn't see this resurface. Evenings were quiet, we often went out to a local bar in Paguera, but for a lot of the older people at the hotel, I know it was probably a bit boring. There is a crooner style singer on Tuesday and Sunday who was okay. Overall, very little atmosphere, but didn't mark it up or down for this as this suits many people. Overall size of the hotel was good for us, maybe about 30-40 rooms, much better than a large hotel complex. Only places to park were on the street or a public car park further down the road, luckily we managed to get a space every day. Like the previous review, I feel the hotel must be testing the waters for the new season. We arrived Monday and on Wednesday night they put a notice on the bar saying that all inclusive drinks would only be served until 10pm and then would be chargeable from then until midnight. We found this an insulting gambit by the management and the hotel staff had to deal with the fallout of unhappy guests from every room. We complained to the manager first thing in the morning as did several other guests. The manager explained it was miscommunication and should have said 11pm. Even so, this put our no
