We have been going to the Avanti Hotel (not to be confused with its sister, Avanti Village next door) for a week in May each year for the last six or seven years and always enjoy our stays. We are going again this May. I hope this review is constructive and helpful. The staff are welcoming and friendly and are always willing to help, especially Zoe on the front desk. If you want something and it can be done, then they’ll do it. We make the same request every year, and although we know nothing is guaranteed, they will do their best to oblige. The reception area is nice with plenty of seating, a shop and bar. We always stay B&B so can’t comment on the evening meals but I believe the Avanti is now B&B only anyway. The breakfast buffet, in all honesty, isn’t the best we’ve had and has been repetitive over the years. In fact, we don’t think the offering has ever changed so we know what to expect, but we don’t mind. You can choose to eat indoors or outdoors overlooking the pool and garden area. The bedrooms (with a balcony or terrace, air con, safe(chargeable), tea/ coffee facilities and small fridge), and bathrooms are always very clean (as is the whole of the hotel and pool area) but are looking tired now (or they were) and could do with some TLC and updating. There are not enough sockets in the rooms which are now needed in this ever advancing technological world. There are no suites or similar as far we know. We always choose a pool and garden view room which we really enjoy. There are rooms at the front of the hotel, with inland views but you could upgrade to the pool view rooms if any are available. The pool area itself is a sun trap for most of the day and is relatively big with plenty of sunbeds and lots of shaded garden areas to cool down in if you want to. There is a children’s area and a swim up snack bar serving food and drinks at reasonable prices. I must also mention that there are lots of cats in the hotel grounds. They’re not to everyone’s liking, so don’t be surprised if one takes a nap on or under your sunbed or fancies a bit of your breakfast. The hotel is in an area that has quite a few shops, bars and restaraunts on either side, and is about a 20 to 30 minute walk (depending on your personal circumstances ) from lively Paphos Harbour which has a lot going on. You can walk along the well lit coastal path or main road. If you choose the main road, there are a number of bars and restaurants leading into the harbour. There is also a regular bus service into the Harbour and further afield with a bus stop very close to the hotel. We haven’t tried to cover everything and must stress that May isn’t the hotel’s busiest of months, or doesn’t appear to be, so some things will probably be different later on in the year. This review is also based on what we know from last and previous years. There may well have been some improvements since last year, but like many other hotels, the Avanti could be so much better if investment was avail
