Apollonion Asterias Resort and Spa

Just home after 10 days. Hotel was starting to shut down as end of season (1/10). Nice resort but definitely not 5*. Food was ok nothing exciting and very repetitive towards the end of our stay. Disappointed as no ‘themed’ evenings in the restaurant. A la carte restaurants Greek & Italian could only be booked once in a 10 night stay (only one or the other). Fridge in room only had one bottle of water on arrival despite the fact we were all inclusive. No other drinks were provided. No system to separate all inclusive from half board guests and had to give our room number each time we were served. Maybe a wrist band should be introduced like a lot of all inclusive hotels do. All bar staff and cleaners were marvellous and worked extremely hard. The entertainment team of Nini and Vicky were brilliant and worked together extremely well. Both very entertaining and amusing. Quiz nights lots of fun. We had upgraded to a swim up room which we hardly used. Unfortunately I had limited mobility and struggled with the ladder type steps to get in so this should be mentioned to customers as we would not have bothered upgrading. We requested an iron and board on arrival to be told they don’t supply them. So we just went out in creased clothes. Only paper cups were supplied in the room too. I would have preferred some proper crockery to have a nice cuppa! A nice relaxing time. Lixouri was lovely to visit on the local bus from outside the hotel. And the bars /cafes by XI beach are worth a 10 minute walk to.

Just returned from a week half board here and honestly I cannot fault it. I was slightly concerned reading some of the reviews but I needn’t have been. The room was kept spotlessly clean and the staff, from the guy on the golf cart to the cleaners, waiting staff, pool guys and receptionists were all friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food - yes, it wasn’t ‘Greek’, but it was still tasty and a huge variety and I didn’t have to cook it! We were there the first week in September and never had any problem getting a sunbed at the Asterias pool at any time of the day. We used the showers down by the Apollonion pool on our last afternoon as we had to check out of our room at 11am and this meant we could make the most of our last few hours there. We mostly went down the road to Antonellos to have our lunch and there you can have a true taste of Greek food! Would we go back? Probably, yes! The only drawback, which is nothing to do with the hotel is that the beach is basically non existent there after the storms so if you like to spend time on a beach this may not be for you.

The place is amazing! Well maintained, 2x pool areas with a kids one as well, food was amazing and everyone one there was super polite. My compliments for the restaurant guys (sorry don't remember their names) and the bar as well, specially for Vasile bar supervisor, he was really nice and gave us nice tips about the area. The hotel is 5mim walk from Xi beach and the water is clear, we could see fishes around us while swimming. One of the days we got a taxi and ferri to visit Argostino, the taxi was €13 and the ferri €3 euro each way . The experience was was amazing and I was sad to leave.

This is the perfect hotel if you want to chill out and relax. I think the hotel has it right with no crazy entertainers bugging you around the pool. They just leave you to make memories with your family in a wonderful setting. This hotel vibe is very much on the side of families. So you do not get the pushy waiters bugging you to buy another cocktail, and because of this you do not see anyone drunk or causing any commotion in the hotel at anytime of day or night. It is all very PG13. We especially liked how quickly the hotel responded when we complained about the AC not cooling the room down well enough. A maintenance man was around investigating quickly, Close to the hotel is a small beach, it is quite unique as it is a sand/clay beach and has apparently healing qualities. If you want to eat out, Antonellos is only a 5 minute walk away and they serve all the Greek favourites. Although it is a remote location, taxis are only €13 to the main town, and the bus is only about €3. We rented a boat for a day in Lixouri and had a great day on the waters going to beaches and coves that are only accessible by water, A fantastic experience.

It was a lovely stay at this hotel for our family of 4 adult people. The room was brilliant (full of space, clean) and so was the service and food. There were just a few things ready for improvement (as it is a 5* hotel). The AC was a little off (sometimes it was very hot in the room and sometimes it was crazy cold, even though the windows and doors were closed and the temperature was set to the same level). The sink water pressure was very low, even though it was perfect in the shower and bathtub. When it comes to the food - everything was really delicious and everyone had something to choose from (I was especially fascinated with 2 types of bacon - you could choose whether you like it more crispy or not). However, we were missing baked tomatoes with cheese for breakfast, white greek bread, any type of cheese spread/cream cheese, sausages weren’t tasty at all and they were the same every day (that can be said about the breakfast as a whole, but that’s a standard ofc). I was also missing any type of hashbrown and a real nutella. For dinner, we would appreciate more greek food - baklava was only once per the whole stay and so was gyros. How about some stifado, souvlaki..? And more baklava hihi :DDD Other than that, I can’t really complain - it was the best holiday we’ve had so far and would love to return in like 5 years or so. Special thanks to Gabriela who has taken special care of us during the food sessions - for example, if we didn’t get a beer in a few minutes, we told that to her and got it immediately. Everyone, enjoy the stay here, you will not regret it!

My wife and four children had a fantastic time at the Apollonian resort. The Apollonian staff did an immense job in meeting all our needs. The resort operated at a very high standard at every level, from how the wonderful staff presented themselves to the sheer variety of the culinary offerings. My children particularly enjoyed the entertainment team, aka the animation club who entertained from morning until night. I must also mention Vana, who took care of our rooms - she had the daily task of keeping our rooms in order given our four very active children! She did a wonderful job, a testament to the Apollonian Resort. Our children also enjoyed the interactions with the Le Shop lady who offered bespoke Greek lessons; a great touch. The staff in the main restaurant were incredibly professional and efficient. Without any hesitation I would recommend the Apollonion Resort, particularly for families.
