Al Massimo Piacere

This is a little complicated because it is completely wow! The most stunning apartment, a room with view underplays the location and “stunning” is not quite enough. Vast floors of original tiling and marble, a tromp l’oil on every ceiling. To lie in bed with great coffee watching the sunrise over the Teatro Massimo was incredible, every single day. We are Londoners, who enjoyed apartment living in the hustle, bustle and life of a lively city, it is very noisy and all the sounds you would expect from the location, so if you want a primo spot in the heart of Palermo, 2 mins walk from the 4 corners, 10 mins from the Monastery or the Cathedral of Palermo, 20 mins from the botanical gardens or Palatine Palace; if you love preserved, palatial vintage, complete with an original Italian jukebox and art on the walls….. then this is for you! We absolutely loved it, the tall doors out to the balcony, the little kitchen with option to cook but we simply made use of the Lavazza coffee machine and milk frother every morning and some delicious pastries from the hosts. The price is excellent and we felt reflected some of the elements that may not be to everyone’s taste, the stairs to the apartment are not for everyone, the shower in the King Suite is very tiny, we understand the issues around a Grade 1 listed property but I think many people may prefer better bathroom facilities. Finally, it is not clear that this is shared accommodation. The dining room, kitchen and TV room are communal which for us was not a problem as we didn’t really see other guests but if there had been guests in the communal area that were drinking late etc we would not have enjoyed it. If you book this whole place with another couple or friend, you would have the best few days in the the most incredible apartment, in a world beating location and we would definitely return if we travelled to Palermo again. Finally, calling young film makers and content creators, what a place to set up for a film shoot!
