For ease I'll copy the email sent to the hotel. An email I've yet to receive a reply on over a week later. Good afternoon, I'm writing this email to you today in regards to my recent stay at the Watermill Hotel in Paisley. Unfortunately there were many faults with my stay, which I would like to converse with you now in the hopes that changes be implemented for future guests so they don't experience the same issues. I would also request a refund due to the horrific night we experienced at this hotel. We arrived at the hotel and got checked in to room 217 promptly by the kind receptionist at the front desk. Upon entering the room we were struck with the sheer noise of the wind. The latched window let in a large amount of noise (howling, buffeting wind) and freezing air due to having no seal on them. I also discovered large cobwebs above the bed and the corner of the room, while the bathroom and the cupboard doors screamed when you opened/closed them. To add to this, the hot water tap was in fact cold, and the mattress sagged in to the middle which makes for a very uncomfortable sleep. Then, at 11pm our neighbour arrived at their room. We heard every footfall due to the creaking floorboards, and their wall mounted TV may as well have been in our own room due to how thin the walls are. We could hear her having a conversation on the phone as if she was chatting to us ! By the time 1130pm rolled around we had given up trying to sleep and instead opted to try and move rooms to somewhere on the other side of the building so the wind wouldn't be so loud, with preferably no neighbours. When we eventually got ahold of the night porter, he had us moved to room 218 with no fuss and we got settled in to the new room by 1am. This room however had it's own share of issues. There was once again a large cobweb above the bed which my partner graciously removed, the sides of the chests were sticky and are in dire need of a good scrub, the mattress was hard with the springs digging in to you, and the carpet by the chair was sticky. The bathroom had its own share of surprises. The fan is covered in layers of grime and fluff which really must be a fire hazard. It also shrieks at you when you turn it on right up until you flick the switch to let it die once more. The shower drain was blocked and so turned in to more of a bath/shower type situation when the water was on for more than 10 seconds at a time, there is mould at the bottom of the shower doors, and judging by the looks of the grime on the taps they haven't been cleaned properly in months. That being said, the staff were excellent and the pressure of the shower was almost enough to reset my back after the terrible nights sleep. In summary, I'm really disappointed in my stay. I booked the hotel as it was near the hospital that I had an appointment at the next day. I spent £55 on this hotel and had a terrible experience which was genuinely surprising due to the website making it look leagues
