Fletcher Hotel Duinzicht - great stay Amazing breakfasts, comfortable beds, convenient location.

Beautiful clean room with carpet on the floor. We took the option including dinner. If you do not speak dutch, not so easy to understand what is included or not in that dinner-offer. Dinner was good although some unexpected extras had to be paid at the end. Breakfast quite good and included in the price. Hotel good situated near walking distance to the strand and sea.

The hotel looks very nice and is 10 minutes drive from the lovely town of Oodorp. On arrival I and a couple waited for some time but nobody at reception. Eventually a young lady arrived but when checking in we were told that the restaurants were closed. It was -5C outside so I did not fancy a 30 min walk into town and I was looking forward to a glass of wine with my meal so I drove to an Aldi and bought tapas to eat and a bottle of wine. I decided to be sociable so at 1930 I went down to the bar which was a huge room but the bar consigned to a cluster of bottles in a corner. There was nobody else there but I finally did manage to get a small bottle of beer. Due to the weather outside, the vast emptiness of the room and the incredibly dim lighting, it reminded me of the Shining and I was waiting for Jack Nicholson to put an axe through the door and say 'Here's Johnny'. I returned to my equally dimly lit room and ate cold food in the gloom. By now the wall lights had failed so I was left with a small table lamp and the light from the bathroom. Breakfast was delivered from town and there were cold meats and cheeses but I would have liked a hearty hot breakfast before spending a day working in the freezing cold. I am sure that in good weather the hotel will be busy, vibrant and will have hot food and a proper bar but when I was there this did not apply. When is a hotel not a hotel? When it is a semi dark room and they forgot to put the radiator on in advance of my arrival.

Indifferent staff greet you on arrival. The room had a forgotten air about it. This room has a massive bathroom that was actually larger then the space the two single beds occupied in the main section. The small terrace was dirty with old dried bird excrement. The bathroom floor was sticky with what I hope was cleaning product residue ( I advise wearing shoes in the shower ). The shower head was clogged and only had minimal function. The towels were threadbare and there were none of the usual extras I would expect to see at this price point- no shower cap, lotion or indeed decent shampoo. The bed headboard was made of fake leather that has been worn through and not repaired / replaced. Plastic “glasses” and paper cups are supplied in the room for minimal deference to the needs of the guests however on request from the restaurant I got two real glasses to use. Cleanliness does not seem to be a theme at this hotel. The restaurant payment system did not integrate to the main hotel payment system which was an inconvenience and despite being quite expensive my hamburger would have been better used to repair the roads outside. I’d advise booking in the restaurant as despite being 70% unoccupied - it was “full” according to the staff. Breakfast brought a new set of terrors - the scrambled egg was burned brown and seemed to made from something other than real eggs. The boiled eggs were dark green inside and tasteless. I finally opted for a stale Picasso inspired croissant and coffee. I would happily recommend this to my enemies. I wonder if any directors of this company have ever stepped inside this hotel unannounced and experienced what they expect their customers to. The only reason it got two stars is that it’s a nice location and the WiFi was free and worked.

Enttäuschender Aufenthalt – nicht empfehlenswert Der Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel war leider sehr enttäuschend. Der Service ließ stark zu wünschen übrig – unfreundlich und wenig hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war ungepflegt, ohne Klimaanlage und die Fenster ließen sich nicht vollständig öffnen, wodurch Lüften kaum möglich war. Die Betten waren durchgelegen und sehr unbequem. Das Badezimmer wurde bei unserem Aufenhalt (2 Nächte) vergessen zu reinigen, Handtücher fehlten und als Zahnputzbecher gab es lediglich dünne Pappbecher – absolut nicht hygienisch. Die Badezimmerbeleuchtung war auch sehr schwach. Auch die Schlüsselkarten funktionierten mehrfach nicht, was sehr umständlich war. Das Frühstück war mäßig und wenig abwechslungsreich, vieles wirkte lieblos und nicht frisch. Wir wollten auf der Terrasse frühstücken und mussten selber eindecken, obwohl wir das Personal informiert haben. Insgesamt ein sehr enttäuschendes Erlebnis – dieses Hotel werde ich definitiv nicht noch einmal buchen. Preis und Leistung liegen hier meilenweit auseinander,

Lekker gegeten Aangenaam personeel en het restaurant heeft een leuke stijl. Aanrader is de ouddorpse lekkernij als dessert. Met lokale desserts van Ouddorp zoals kruik kruukplaetjes en arretjescake in 1 dessert en een heerlijk bakje koffie of thee naar keuze.
