We had stayed here during Easter break of 2021. The rates were/are spectacular for where they were located. Everything was clean. They were then following COVID protocols of not cleaning rooms so if you wanted to exchange towels and sheets you called the desk and they would leave exchanges in plastic bags outside of the office. That was fine. It was too cold to swim while there but the pool was inviting and clean. There was a nice community area with cement tables and benches and they also had plastic lounge chairs and a small pavilion with a picnic table. There were just 2 couples and we brought our cooler with snacks and drinks down and spent the afternoons there relaxing. We met quite a few people who would come up to chat, some staying there, some not. One was an old retired submarine officer who shared some great stories and history. One couple comes every year with their pets and stays weeks on end. It was very windy and we were very cautious of our trash or recyclables. We only saw the owner one time. Checking in and out. There was a lady that cleaned the trash cans out and swept the sand from the public areas. That's all we saw or heard from. This January we booked a few days for March. We were coming back for a wedding. And we had such a good time that the bride and groom, adult children, and another couple, all booked rooms. My husband and I arrived Saturday night, 3/12, to be turned away. He was told that we could not stay there and they don't have to tell us why. I was waiting by the car with the luggage. When he told me, I thought he was joking with me. I went in to ask and was met with hostility. I recorded the conversation because I knew no one would really believe me. The owner stated he put our name in the computer and it told him to not let us stay there. He had no idea why. He kept saying over and over that they don't have to give a reason. I asked who we could talk to and he said No one. He said it's in the computer. I asked if it was because they may be over booked and he said no, we have plenty of rooms. I asked if he could put my name in and see what happens. He said no, he would not because i was with him. ??? So, thankfully, the rest of the party - who was with us last year - was allowed to stay. Once they found out we had been together they just stopped being nice to them. We figured they will probably go on the list after they are gone. If you can stay here, it's ok. We actually found a place that was comparable in price but a bit nicer after a few hours of searching. Bottom line - if you book through a third party - like Trip Advisor, ***********, travelocity, etc...check with the hotel before you head there to stay next time.
