Just returned from a week all inclusive at the Garcia Resort so thought I’d share a fair honest review based on our experience. First of all, and I do think this is important to understand; almost every Turkish ‘5 star’ hotel will have reviews saying ‘not 5 star’ as they are typically compared to British 5 star which is admittedly not the same. In the UK, 5 star hotels tend to be awarded based on how luxurious they are as opposed to the Turkish system which seems to be awarded based on the facilities. So with that in mind, that is why Garcia is classed as 5 stars, because it does tick all the boxes in that respect. Here in the UK, a hotel could gain 5 star rating based on furnishings, fancy menus, the type of bed linen, ambience, and general surroundings, but then not have entertainment, water slides, kids club, spa etc. Whereas in Turkey its the opposite; you could have a fairly basic hotel yet if it has excellent facilities, so it will score highly & therefore gain a higher star rating, even if its not what most people would class as a ‘luxury’ establishment. So taking into the above into account, and the pretty reasonable price that we paid for our stay, I am going to review based on that. I have stayed at many ‘world class’ 5 star hotels, and eaten in Michelin Star restaurants so I wouldn’t say I have particularly low standards. If you price up what flights only would be, then deduct that from your total holiday price, divide the left over balance by 7 or 14 nights, then by number of people staying; you’ll be pretty surprised at how little you are actually paying for 3 meals a day, unlimited drinks, entertainment, leisure facilities and the rest. The hotel will also have high outgoings like staff wages, maintenance, insurance, utility bills, food & beverages costs, cleaning, and so much more so for what we paid I am pretty happy with what we received. Overall, the hotel is good value for money so if thats what you are seeking then you’ll likely enjoy it but if you do seek all out luxury maybe not so much. Before coming, I read some reviews saying the food wasn’t great but I have to disagree; I really enjoyed the food & cant see how anyone could have an issue with it. I looked forward to every meal & always found there to be so much effort made with plenty options to choose from. I tend to always have lots of salad, veg and eat quite healthily so was generally pleased with that aspect. The only thing that I would say that could be improved was the amount of flies in the restaurant, it was quite annoying sitting down to eat & having to bat them away every few minutes. However the doors to outside were always open, and there is so much greenery round about so not sure what they can do. I think it must be tough going being an all inclusive hotel to keep people happy, and provide varied dishes because even though I did find it was varied, it will always feel repetitive going to the same place to eat 3 times a day, no matter wher
