Having spoken with the hotel manager, Massimiliano twice during our stay, I believe there is a genuine ambition for the Cala Cuncheddi to deserve its 4 star rating, but for now, there remain many frustrating issues which marred our four night stay. Firstly, our suite (thanks to a complimentary upgrade) was lovely, and as we arrived late, it was kind of the staff to arrange for dinner to be served in our room. Front desk staff seemed only too pleased to be able to help. Our main issues relate to catering and to the staff. Our rate included half board so we were able to enjoy the 4 course menu in the restaurant. Whilst the food was good, it felt as if we were on some kind of production line, with one course served barely a moment or two after the previous one had finished. With a few exceptions, staff were efficient without any real effort to engage in conversation. It takes many things to make a meal enjoyable, and interaction is one of them. I should also add that the restaurant closes at 9:30 and the staff all disappear at 10:00pm so don’t expect a coffee or a digestif if you prefer to dine late. Breakfast too was a mixed affair. The breakfast buffet was adequate, but charging a €15 surcharge for the worst Eggs Benedict I have ever eaten, waiting an eternity for coffee, and waiting almost an hour for an omelette that never arrived was not. Bar service too was equally hit and miss. And as the pool bar closes at 7.00pm, there is no chance to enjoy a pre dinner cocktail as the sun sets. I think the hotel is struggling to straddle two markets - a traditional, older clientele who expect to dress for an early dinner and be in bed by nine, and a younger group who (in common with most European travellers) expect to dine late and perhaps enjoy a drink or two after dinner. As others have mentioned, the public areas too are over lit and somewhat sterile. Certainly not the coziness described on some of the hotel’s signage and advertising. I think there is a real opportunity here to truly deserve or even exceed the hotel’s 4 star rating, but it isn’t there yet.

Wow! This place is just amazing. Everything from the surroundings to the building itself, the food, the service and location is just great. Just 20 min drive from Olbia Airport. Service is the most excellent I have ever experienced. So friendly and professional staff, always with a smile on their faces and a mentality of that nothing is impossible for them to serve you with. Me and my husband had 8 days here enjoying every moment. We will come back over and over!

Great resort, food should have more variety. Also a cafe with pastry for daytime would have been good considering the location of resort to the closest town. Internet is very bad and phone did not have signal in my room.

Mom and I had a wonderful time at the hotel and enjoyed the beach very much. The culinary was also one of the most enjoyable experience for us as each plate had a story of different flavors. Very good hotel - very good helpful staff. The issue for my wife and I is that the hotel is very isolated. There is nothing in terms of a bar or restaurant or shop (or anything!) within walking distance. we enquired about a Taxi to the nearest two towns but was advised that because the Taxi has to come from the Airport area, the fare would be 50 Euros each way to even the nearest town. We ended up renting a car for 4 days. So it is OK if you are happy staying and always eating at the Hotel, but if like us, you are B&B and like to go out for meals elsewhere I would avoid this otherwise very nice hotel.

Wonderful location by the beach. Staff really friendly. Facilities good. Pool and beach area perfect. Good food and service. Rooms high standard. Highly recommend this hotel. We rented a car to get to nice spots in the area. Olbia near by where the old town has really nice restaurants.

It was gorgeous. Perfect little get away! Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a break or some alone time :) they have all the facilities to make you feel very comfortable and have the best experience! I loved every single moment I was there

Beautiful place to unwind and relax. Great location to explore from, either by hired boat off the beach or by car, which is a must if you’re staying for a week. We had a sunset dinner on the beach to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary, front desk sorted out flowers and menu before we arrived and the restaurant team delivered a magical night for us, thanks again. Tony&Ginette
