Hotel Gurglhof Superior

What a shame that one element of this hotel really lets it down (reception). There are fabulous facilities- the bar and restaurant are wonderful with great food, really helpful and friendly waiters who make you feel special. The wellness area is beautiful and really well equipped. A great ski boot room. However our experience of the rude and dismissive reception (male) staff mean we won’t be returning.

This is just outstanding throughout. Lovely and attentive staff, (thanks to Zoltan, Andras and Daniel- and sorry if we left some of you out) great bar staff and a proper sommelier. Not to mention Nora and Patrick at the reception - just brilliant The rooms are full of thoughtful and nice touches and the entire place is just great. The location is just splendid. The attention to detail and the hard working staff makes this pretty and well equipped hotel really worthy that extra 5th *. Amazing times, thank you all. Highly recommended - and sadly or happily we travel a lot.

This was our second stay in Obergurgl, as we normally go to Ischgl and stay at Hotel Trofana Royal, but we were late in booking and missed our train for Christmas celebrations, so we landed going here, and it was nice, indeed, let me tell you why: 1. The hotel is 4s, I have no idea what they missed in getting that 5 star, but they surely have it; 2. The food was excellent, we had a full board and it was good, really they did everything we asked for and did that litlle extra step to please the clients; 3. Sommelier Daniel served us every night was flawless, always picking great local Austrian choices and ordering for the next evening the bubbles and wines they didnt have on the spot. He did a good job walking us through the Austrian wines; 4. The spa area is nice, well not crazy spacious, but the pool is nice, sauna's too 5. The waiters who served us every night were also flawless, my apologies I forgot the correct names and dont want to write wrong ones, but two gents did a very good job, as we have two kids (4 and 1 year) and you know how it is with the kids, always hungry and always no waiting time, but they managed well; 6. We had two junior suite rooms, one on the first floor, that was good and spacious and one on the third floor, which was a little weird, but anyways I am not complaining about it, I understand its Christmas and everything is sold out; 7. Obergurgl itself is not a fancy place where to go shopping or dive into gourmet wine bars or apres ski places, it is rather quite place, I would say perfect for families and escpecially small kids when you need that extra space for them to learn skiing. Ischgl, Solden etc, are certainly more crowded with bigger restaurant, shopping etc. variaties, if you are looking for active social life you will not find it in Obergurgl, but I loved it the way it was. 8. Worth a visit!

Dear Gurglhof Team, I just want to say a big thank you for a wonderful stay over Christmas. We were in room 107 from 21-28 December. The hotel is beautiful, the wellness area was delightful. The food was top class, plentiful and wine delicious - a big thank you to the Chef and restaurant team. Laszlo looked after us during our stay and was so kind and thoughtful to us - please pass on our warm wishes and thanks to him. Our housekeeper was great at servicing our room to a high standard and at regular times which was very much appreciated. Everyone was so warm and welcoming during our stay - we are so very grateful to you for making Christmas magical. All the very best for the rest of the season. Jayne Catherall

Warm and welcoming. Such a beautiful area. All the staff helpful and friendly. Rooms good size. Some modern others more traditional. Spa area clean warm and modern - lovely and relaxing. Obergurgl skiing great for beginners and family, slopes wide and not crowded. Good for non skiers as you can get to the top of the mountain and back on the cable cars. Not a huge selection of food at the hotel but all fresh and tasty. Vegetarian option. Buffet for breakfast and dinner very good. Only one option on the children’s menu which is out with the buffet - great for hungry children to be fed straight away. The hotel does say if you can’t find anything on the menu you like they will try to help with this. Afternoon tea at around 3pm of soup and small buffet, lovely. Ski hire 2 minutes walk from the hotel, boot room and ski storage at the hotel great. Main cable car lifts no more than 5 minute walk in ski boots. Nursery slope just around the corner. The only slight negative is the hotel is very warm which at times is brilliant when you come off the slopes but slightly too warm at dinner. Fantastic stay thank you.

An exceptional hotel. All staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble - I was injured so needed some extra cushions etc. The food is amazing with meat, fish and vegetarian choices every night. The access to boot/ski rooms and outside is so simple and close to the lift. Such a good hotel we are hoping to go back. I can't recommend this hotel enough.
