No.26 by the Sea

What a lovely place to stay! The building is beautiful inside -very warm and welcoming. Carrie greeted us upon arrival and was so helpful and kind. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful view. We had all the amenities we needed and the room was so comfortable. The extra touches were above and beyond. We had delicious breakfasts both morning The location made it so easy to walk all around and find things to do and places to eat. Everyone at No 26 was so nice. One of our favorites on our Scotland trip.

There’s so much to praise about this hotel. From the moment we walked in, Carrie greeted us with a glass of fizz in the cosy and warm lounge overlooking the water. We took Room 4, a classic Scottish themed room with a four-poster bed, leather armchair and thistle themed wallpaper on the ceiling. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. On our two night stay we used the Honesty bar, which is well stocked with beer, wine and spirits. Breakfast is pre-ordered the day before, and on both mornings, we ate delicious homemade food in the kitchen / diner. It really feels like home. Big shout to Carrie for being such a wonderful host, and who convinced us to take the ferry to Iona (from Mull), a recommendation our friends and I will be eternally grateful for. This is a hotel we will undoubtedly come back to. It’s a special place and one that will thankfully retain its charm forever more.

We loved our night at Number 26 -- Rufus the wire-haired Dachshund was welcomed with lots of cuddles, treats and a lovely bed. His morning sausage was much appreciated!! Beautiful place to stay -- and a lovely walk into Oban. The breakfast was excellent -- we thought we had over-ordered but we did eat everything (and missed lunch that day!).

This was an absolutely beautiful property looking over Oban Bay. The decor in the main lounge, breakfast area and room was all beautifully chosen and of the highest quality and design. The breakfast made from scratch was one of the best we had in Scotland and, perhaps most importantly, the staff was wonderful, incredibly friendly and made us feel truly welcomed during our stay. I would highly recommend this property for any stay in Oban and look forward to returning in the future.

My husband and I had the best stay at no. 26 by the. We traveled all around Scotland and this was by far our favorite place we stayed. The warm welcome we received at check-in as well as the breakfast in the morning made it a truly unforgettable experience. The breakfast was delicious! The location was perfect with great views & I loved the thoughtful decor! We would one thousand percent recommend as I wish we could go back sooner to stay again.

A very pleasant stay. Polite, friendly and professional people. A comfortable homely feel with stunning views of Oban and the islands, especially at sunset. Beautifully presented breakfasts and a well stocked honesty bar. 15 min walk into the center of Oban with its great seafood restaurants.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at No.26 by the Sea. Beautifully decorated common space and rooms. Lovely location overlooking the water, walking distance to the Oban Distillery, restaurants and shopping. Breakfast was delicious! Wish we could have stayed longer!

Good location next to sea with free parking. It’s a 10 min walk into center. Rooms have limited space but are nice. No elevator. Very good breakfast. They have a fantastic lobby with a small bar and also an outdoor veranda. Staff were terrific and helpful.

Excellent location for watching sunsets over the bay as sailboats glide by, while sipping wine or a fine scotch whiskey. Easy walk to shopping and restaurants in Oban. Exceptionally friendly staff treat you like family. Best gourmet breakfast in the UK, made to order by their chef, with fresh squeezed orange juice. Rooms are spacious with large bathrooms and wonderful showers. Plan to stay here again for next trip to the Western Isles.
