Pousada Armenteira

A nice hotel but with a strange atmosphere – seems out of place for the small village. But the room and the breakfast was OK, so we were glad our agent had chosen this for us. Our room had a small terrace connecting to a common garden. When we went to check out the pool area, our card didn't work, so we couldn't get back in. However, the pool area connects to the parking area, and there the card worked so we could escape!

The location of this hotel is magical- stunning views, next to the beautiful monastery and a real design gem. Our room was downstairs- spacious with a fully accessible bathroom- lots of storage, 2 chairs and access directly onto the garden and pool area, complete with our own loungers and table. Breakfast was superb, fresh and plentiful, staff were friendly. The only thing the hotel lacks is any kind do restaurant or bar. What a missed opportunity. The only place to eat is the bar next to the monastery which is challenging if you are vegetarian!

This is a bare bones hotel that is probably ok for one night if you are on the camino and need a clean place to stay. Otherwise here are the issues we encountered during our stay: - Very noisy! Due to the concrete design, there are no sound buffers and you can hear everything on top of which the noise is amplified making it louder. You are in a quiet remote area but the hotel itself is very loud. - Handicap bathrooms are a bit awkward especially the shower. - Poor wifi. Had to go either to lobby or finally the reception gave the password for the staff wifi, only a little bit better but guest wifi not working. - Pool was COLD and no amenities. They could have tables and given you are in wine region, wine buckets to have wine and cheese. - NO food options outside of breakfast so plan ahead and bring snacks. There is a small fridge in the room but no minibar. Hotel had potential to be much more. For pilgrims, could offer laundry service. For being so close to many wineries, could offer ice buckets to keep wine in room. Could offer some basic snacks, especially by pool. No bar service at all. Pool should be heated and have tables and amenities.

Alla fine del mese di settembre, facendo con mia moglie il Cammino di Santiago a piedi, ho soggiornato una notte in questo hotel 4 stelle. A fronte di un costo di 150 euro per una camera matrimoniale, inclusa la colazione, il soggiorno non ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative per diversi motivi. La struttura, in stile moderno, é un pò isolata ed esternamente un pò trascurata. La camera era spaziosa, ma la pulizia lasciava a desiderare. Sotto la scrivania c'erano tracce di polvere ed inoltre la veranda presentava delle ragnatele sui vetri. Il bagno aveva un micro lavandino con il rubinetto a poco più di 10 cm dal fondo, per cui era un'impresa lavarsi; la doccia complicata da gestire. La colazione a buffet era buona, orario 8.00-10.30; siamo arrivati alle 8.30 e purtroppo già scarseggiavano parecchie cose. Ad esempio sono riuscito a stento a mangiare il penultimo croissant e l'ultimo yogurt naturale; le persone arrivate appena dopo di noi sono rimaste senza. Mano mano che le cose finivano non venivano più rimpiazzate. C'era una sola persona per servire tutti. Molti ospiti ne hanno approfittato per portarsi via frutta e dolci, senza che il personale di servizio vedesse o dicesse qualcosa, danneggiando chiaramente quelli che arrivavano più tardi. Anche alla reception c'era un'unica persona. Altra lacuna non indifferente é la mancanza di un bar e di un ristorante nell'hotel. Esiste solo un distributore di acqua nella hall insieme ad un bollitore per il caffè e le tisane. In camera non c'é un frigorifero. Per cenare, esiste solo un ristorante in paese. Il prezzo pagato per una notte non é assolutamente giustificato ed adeguato alla qualità del servizio dato. Purtroppo era l'unico hotel ad Armenteira, lungo il Cammino, in una zona dove per parecchi chilometri non c'é nient'altro. Sconsiglio vivamente.

Precioso hotel, maravillosa arquitectura,se funde con el paisaje,bien situado para conocer la provincia, desayuno delicioso,personal encantador,no olviden probar la tortilla de patata...el recepcionista te ayudará a conocer lo mejor de la zona
