The stench of human faeces was overpowering. I walked up the stairs and it only got stronger. My key didn’t work and I just gave up. Booked into another hotel from the street. Awful experience. Was informed later that it was a “drains problem. Avoid

I arranged a 2-night stay at Hotel Belmonte through *******: on the webpage, no mention of a NIGHTCLUB the hotel is situated above is provided. This listing is misleading in that such essential information has been omitted: if I had been made aware that the hotel is situated above a club, I would not have booked it. After checking in, I took photographs of the room to show the disgusting, broken and run-down condition of it- they’re all attached here. On the night-time, it was apparent how disturbing the nightclub was due to the loud, thumping music. Even after it closed at 3am, patrons were still loitering and shouting outside; it was apparent they were not being moved on out of respect for hotel guests. This resulted in two nights of little to no sleep. Security staff outside the hotel implored us to get a refund, as they were fully aware of Hotel Belmonte’s deceptive way of advertising. When I complained to the hotel manager, he simply said, “There’s nothing I can do” and gestured for me to leave. When I contacted ******* for a refund, their process involved- wait for it- ASKING PERMISSION from the manager for me to get my money back. He said no. As far as ******* was concerned, that was the matter closed. Still considering Hotel Belmonte? No, I didn’t think so.

Not as bad as some reviews say in our visit, we saw quite a few bad reveiws and was dubious but when we got there the guy checking us in was really friendly and when we got to the room it was clean, tidy and had complimentary tea & coffee, towels & gel,, what more can you ask for in a budget hotel. Yes noisy till 4am ish but we knew it was above the night club so was expecting that any way

First off this would have been a bit higher but for one thing. The bar underneath the hotel is not a bar. It’s a nightclub. There was non-stop noise until 4am. After that the street cleaners came out. We were doubly unlucky as it was 30°c during the day so we needed the windows open. If you’re going to Norwich for a night out and you’ll be out until then, you’ll be fine here. Maybe during the week when the club isn’t open as well wouldn’t be so bad. They should really disclose this before you book. Aside from that the room was clean (although the fixtures and fittings are dated) and the bed was fairly comfortable. There was a fan provided which was very welcome! It is rough around the edges. The bathroom window didn’t open and there was no extractor fan so you need to be comfortable with whoever you’re staying with! The holder for the shower head was smashed so we had to hold the shower head by hand. The staff were nice and friendly and did warn us about the noise from the nightclub but at the point of check in it was too late. Not the worst place I’ve ever stayed but I couldn’t go higher than a two star because of the noise.

Really bad. Very unpleasant smell going up the stairs. 1 cup and saucer had a layer of dust, what looked like wood shavings, hairs and a screw on the saucer. Curtains dirty. Room very dusty. Close to the town centre and cheap, but level of cleanliness was totally unacceptable Not a pleasant experience. Would definitely not recommend

in the broucher it says spacious room and cool touches ,fabulous linen, tv ,bathroom products 9 bedrooms which have an intimate feel and a warm welcome well the hotel we went to was nothing like what i have just put on we found it hard to find as it is a door inbetween a club and a shop it was even harder to find a place to park we ended in the castle carpark which was a fifteen minute walk with our bags when we got to the hotel we got the key an walked up four flighs of stais to room number 10 and we opened the door and we could not believe what we were looking at i have photos that i will put on soon the room was a mess, bed not made,durty towls on the floor also hanging on the rails, the black cover had we hate to think on it there is a whole where the door closer had gone through it as its to big also dirty cups on the side and the bin was full so we went back down and the man said sorry and he would sort it out when this happebs is it they always blame the person that is not there its the managements job to check , and then check again so we went out for some thing to eat and returned and it was sorted tto a point the carpets are dirty ,and the stair carpet also are rank in the toilet i have saved the best untill last when we booked in the man said you might be best to take the top room as tthe first floor room you might hear the music friday night we came back after a wedding to see a big que going into the club that is part of the hotel the music stopped at three in the morning saturday night the music went on untill 4 in the morning
