Station Hotel

The hotel is a short walk from the railway and within easy access to the Cathedral and city centre. I stayed there for 2 nights. In the 1st night, the bathroom light was out of order as there was no one in the hotel to take care of it. Nothing was done in the following morning, and the only thing to be done is to change the room in the afternoon. The hotel looks tired and needs some touching up, yet the rooms are spacious, functional and clean, and the bed is comfortable. There is an issue with dampness in walls though it is not too serious. If you look for a budget place to sleep at night, this is the place for you.

This is a really disgusting hotel, it is so rundown and no staff I came with my friend for 1 night as it was a affordable price, waiting for ages to check in the staff that where there looked confused, didn’t understand anything we said about our booking. Eventually someone came and quickly cleaned our room for about 10 minutes and then done. He said the key was in the room and there was not. Beds where not changed the pillow smelt so bad and crisps all over the carpet. Shower was dirty with blood on the shower curtain and on the walls. We didn’t even consider staying it was absolutely disgusting. No one down at reception to give us a key, we didn’t want to leave any of our stuff in the room with it unlocked. nothing organised and an absolutely pigs die. Don’t come here unless you want to feel really uncomfortable and want to stay in a dirty room.

Not a hotel, not a guest house or B&B, just a rundown place with rooms to let... Potential customers of this hotel should consider carefully whether or not to reside at this rundown, unclean and unwelcoming accommodation despite its good location close to the station and the city centre. On approach to the front door of the ‘hotel’ it was apparent that I had made an awful choice of a place to stay for the night given the broken tiles, dirty windows and the locked entrance door. When the lady finally answered the door, it then took her ages to locate my booking and finally check me in. Then she could not get rid of me fast enough, one of the worst, unfriendly welcomes at a hotel ever. The corridors leading to the room had stained carpets and an awful smell. The double room was dreadful, the bed was pushed into the corner, had no bedside cabinet, the bed was dressed with old, worn out linen with thin duvet and flat pillows, however, it was ancient, clapped out mattress meant that sleep was difficult and uncomfortable. There was Wi-Fi yet it was useless, the TV though new was missing most of the free-view channels. The window had no view as it had obscured glass. As for the en-suite bathroom this was so unclean I felt very uncomfortable using it, there were layers of scum and mould throughout together with cracked tiles everywhere. Noise was a constant issue, mainly from the loud plumbing and other guests in rooms above. This ‘hotel’ offered no food or drink offering, not even breakfast. So, how the proprietors can call this a hotel is beyond me. Absolutely atrocious and unforgivable.

You get what you pay for. But the bed bugs came for free. Terrible. Smelly. No one on reception. Bitten by bed bugs. One towel. A damp one. The room was clean. But obviously not deep cleaned or those pesky bugs wouldn’t have bitten. DO NOT STAY HERE. UNLESS YOU LIKE BED BUGS OF COURSE

Cancelled with less than 24 hours notice!!! Absolutely shocking, avoid at all costs!!! Did not even phone, just a text message!! Obviously sold the room on for a higher price due to a concert nearby, we are left with nowhere to stay and they are not replying to phone calls or text messages

I do not normally write reviews, but wanted to warn you. Smelled of mold the moment I walked in through the front door. My “deluxe double room” was a single bed & a room so small I had to take my suitcase into the bathroom to open it. Bathroom had stains from leaks in ceiling, shampoo & body wash containers in shower were empty. Lots of dead bugs in bathroom. Light fixture in bathroom had been half removed, so no place to put a bulb. Fire escape lights flashing all night. Fire safety doors propped open with dirty dumbbell weights,. No one in reception. Stained carpet. Wifi did not work. Electric kettle was full of calcium deposits. It was so bad I moved after one night! On a plus side - it is close to the station. The tap water tasted terrific and the smell of mold was replace by the smell of burnt food. DO NOT STAY HERE. The Marlborough hotel just behind the station is SO much better.
