Rhino River Lodge

Very nice 5 Star game drive in a Luxury bubble. We have seen all big 5 + Harpy + cheeta. Nice central Lodge place with rooms distributed around it. Very good service, good Ranger Team. ........but the right gate is not so easy to find with google.

In the balmy heat of summer we embraced this wonderful experience. We shared this dreamy thatched 2 bedroom self catered space with our daughter who was visiting from Scotland. With our own private pool the long hot days inbetween game drives & meals at the main lodge were a very relaxed time to connect & catch up. A dip in the pool was a welcome reprieve from the hot sun and a few pages of our books & a snooze on the deep thatch covered deck was mandatory. Nyala & warthog chilled out around the lodge & the sightings & sound of bird song is prolific in the beautiful trees surrounding the lodge. Relaxed African summer holidays don’t get better than this. Manyoni Game Reserve is by far our favourite game reserve in KZN. The abundance of wildlife (we saw all of the Big 5 in 2 days) thanks to our epic guide Storm who shared her wealth of knowledge , enthralling stories of the adventures of living & working in the wild and her quick wit & lighthearted banter made for a fun few days. The beauty & diversity of the property is breathtaking & morning coffee & sundowner drinks stops were always in the most special places in the bush. We opted to have meals at the lodge & all the other spoils of drinks around the fire & dining under the stars. Rhino River is one of our favourite lodges, it’s our third visit here & it never disappoints. From the wonderful cheery chef who provides exceptional cuisine & the intimate team of lodge staff & management who take care of our every need in a seemingly relaxed & effortless way. We are always made to feel like part of the Rhino River family. The owners’ passion for conservation is apparent & we are so grateful for all of those who are dedicated to preserving our natural wild African environment. It takes a village of passion & a huge amount of financial investment to maintain these special wild places. You cannot beat the special energy of Zululand and its private safari offerings. We had a great experience at the Rhino River Lodge. The bungalows are quaint and cozy. Outdoor showers were cool too. A little buggy but not terrible.The food is delicious and plentiful. Our safari guide, Sam was rockin. He was knowledgeable and helpful in that he wanted us to see The Big 5. We came up cheetah short. Sam set up lovely coffee, teas, wine and snacks on all of our trips out. Best of all was the staff. So friendly! Great experience. DEFINITELY recommend.

Our room was beautiful, the lodge and pool were so pristine and clean. The staff were very friendly and the food was presented so nicely. Our game ranger Steve was excellent, he went out of his way to make our game drives really memorable and we had such incredible sightings. We loved waking up to the Nyala on our doorstep every morning, just like having domestic animals around us.

We stayed at Rhino River lodge for 3 nights in the Deluxe rooms - we had literally the BEST time! We opted to add both the visit to the Rhino orphanage and the pangolin tracking experience, would thoroughly recommend both. The rhino orphanage you have to self drive to, the pangolin experience we went straight to from the orphanage, but i understand usually you can taken to the location from the lodge. We knew we were in for a treat when we spotted a leopard on our very first game drive, and by spotted I mean front row viewing for her dinner time! Accommodation; brilliant People; brilliant Food; incredible Sightings; out of this world Cant wait to go back!

Gorgeous accommodation, lovely food, great service and the safari was amazing. The staff are very friendly and our guide was very knowledgeable. Couldn’t have asked for a better trip. From check in to check out everything was organised perfectly.
