Was a lovely hotel staff was so friendly food in pub was amazing can't fault it at all felt very welcomed good value for money room was cosy bed was comfortable good size room selection tea coffee biscuits staff was so helpful room was ready when we got there smooth checkin

Very friendly with a warm welcome. We were very late arriving and the host was most accommodating and made us a cuppa and sat us by the fireside. Lovely comfortable room and we slept deeply and woke up refreshed. Nice hot shower in the en suite bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. Very disappointed with are stay there 3 nights of hell room very dirty mould on shower head and windows no hot water after telling a member of staff still had no hot water carpet cover in stains one window had no curtains towel rack falling off wall toilet floor very smelly and dirty it has to be the worse place I've stay in the pub is not much better order two meals only one turned up and when it did turn up was not cooked so had a refund so went without any food due to the medication I'm on needed to eat so was up all night due to this staff not very helpful would not recommend very poor and got to walk through a smelly bin area to get to room they should refund my money in full 190 pounds to stay in a very poor place dirty smelly room black mould in room which us a health hazard we have both had upset stomach since are stay there I had a take away food delivery which was delivered to the bar and we never received it its a terrible place stay away

Not sure if it's a temporary landlords but their children where running around family playing jenga taking up a snug space near the bar. Their children ran into the small room next to the bar where we were trying to have a quiet drink and hid under the tables. Not going to frequent again whilst they are in site as of 1st May 2024. Not sure what the brewery are thinking of putting this family in charge after they lost a terrific landlady

We had a lovely relaxing stay here. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Couldn’t resist sitting down for a meal near the open fire. All in all it was an enjoyable stay and excellent value for money! Many thanks to all the staff at The Black Dog, John & Maria :)

Great place to stay, friendly staff and easy check in. Room clean and tidy. There were stairs to get to room. They do not serve breakfast but 5 min drive up room can get a great breakfast at Lotties (may want to book a table as gets busy). Would stay again
