Tierra Del Sol Resort & Golf

We entered the property by cab and we were impressed by the landscape architecture surrounded by the sea. We asked to sit on the patio for dinner. As we reviewed the menu my husband asked if the fish was native to Aruba and she looked confused and said, “No. We cook the fish here.” Then I asked about the Ahi Tuna because it said it was GlutenFree Optional. I asked what would be changed to make it gluten free. She didn’t know and left to apparently check in the kitchen. After 10-minutes she came back and said they would make it gluten free. I asked her again about the preparation and she still didn’t know. She took our order and disappeared. We had emptied the bottle of sparkling water and sat there with no attention for 20-minutes. Our salads were delivered by another wait person, we had no water on our table and ate our salads. No return of our waitress. Our meals arrived and we waited for silverware to be delivered. No one came so we took forks and knives from another table. I asked the man who delivered our food which of the tuna’s was gluten free. He said they both were. I was suspect. Half way through our dinner we were able to get more sparking water. To be clear, the dinner plate was beautifully prepared. The tuna was delicious, as was the bok choy and other vegetables. I was so happy. She came to clear our plates and offered us a dessert menu. My husband ordered “2-scoops of ice cream, one vanilla and one chocolate.” She brought him two dishes each with one scoop. We were shaking our heads. My husband asked for a cab to be called. And we waited and waited for our check to be delivered. We never saw her again. We went to the bar to pay our check because we had a 20-minute cab ride and didn’t want to lose our cab. It’s was $250 expense to wake up sweating and spending my morning on the toilet. I called the manager to talk about the importance of training staff about gluten intolerance (celiac disease) as well as those with allergies. I told him I would let the Celiac Association of America know they could not safely eat there. He said they had some new staff. I told him that they shouldn’t be allowed on the floor till they were properly trained. He said he was sorry. I’m on vacation. I could have ignored the horrible service, but not missing a day at the beach with my husband, who by the way, did not get sick. There was gluten intolerance my Ahi Tuna. If you have allergies- don’t go.

This is the second time my husband and I have come here for a couples Hot Stone massage. I had made a reservation months in advance. When we got to the front desk they had no confirmation of my reservation. The two women at the desk were very nice and worked very hard. Reschedule us into that day. It didn't mean our appointment didn't start until late, but at least we got in. I would recommend confirming your appointment prior to just showing up. Reasons I like this location for a massage in Aruba is that included in your massage is usage of the steam room, sauna, hot tub, resort pool and you can even order food if you want it. The pool area is beautiful and overlooks the end of the island and the ocean. Last year when we came it was completely dead and we had pretty much the entire place for ourselves. It was pretty much the same this year. The pool is beautiful so not sure why it is not more crowded but I am not complaining. We had requested the same ladies (Lady & Marguerite) that we had last year as they were phenomenal, probably the best massages we have ever had. I was told that Lady was no longer there but that they would find somebody just as wonderful. Obviously that was not the case as I did not even have a record of my appointment. They were able to get Marguerite for my husband's massage. She was wonderful once again. I had Jacqueline and she was good. We will continue to go here every year for our massages just because of location and how relaxed we feel afterwards.

We went on a Friday for the Happy Hour and Tapas and we definitely not disappointed. The bartender was awesome and made our drinks as requested and also offered suggestions and all were great. The Tapas food as well as some from the regular menu were all great. Will definitely do dinner again there next year.

My husband & I rented a villa (NJF Estates) in this lovely Golf Resort estate, the view was the golf course, watching people play and zooming off in the little golf carts. Loads of stunning homes, extremely quiet even with lots of homes being renovated or built the noise is not intrusive at all, very considerate workers. The restaurant Tierra del Sol is just glorious, setting, food & service.

My fiancé and I came here as locals to enjoy a spa day for an early Valentine’s Day gift. When you book a massage you are also able to use the amenities of the property such as the pool, fitness center, and jacuzzi. This is a great plus. The local discount is also appealing.The pool is great and serene. Lunch was delicious with an excellent view. The relaxation area of the spa before you enjoy your massage is very small and cramped. There were used glasses at the tables that no one had picked up from prior guests. The jacuzzi although nice and hot was full of little gnats. The massage itself was relaxing however the massage tables are uncomfortable. After my massage I looked under the sheet and they had a towel stuffed between the creases of the table. Not sure if those tables are made for massage or other medical uses? I could feel that underneath of me during the massage. The spa definitely needs updating with more attentive staff. There were 2 receptionists that sat at the check in that I feel was a bit unnecessary seeing the neglect of the relaxation space.

We are very pleased to have ventured to this new dining experience for us … Taxi to Nord almost to the Lighthouse … may add to the dining expense but it’s well worth it … The location is priceless … the facility offers creative, spacious, high end dining seating in a variety of settings … the gourmet food and wonderful professional service was wonderful … we shared a salad, each enjoyed the Chef fish special … Mahi Mahi + Barracuda with excellent fresh mixed vegetables … the de-caf cappuccino was 4.5 stars ! Our wine selection was Sancerre Loire, France … fantastic!!! Very special … we will be back … Frequently Well Done !
