I chose to stay here as I wanted to experience staying at a guesthouse. This guesthouse suits me fine for a number of reasons. 1) Takeru, the owner, speaks excellent English. He replied to all my emails with useful informations. Takeru is very kind and has a gentle disposition. 2) The location is very good. It is situated at Lake Chuzenji with the most shops and restaurants for Okunikko visit. This guesthouse is next to bus stop 29. If one arrived between 10 am and 4 pm before check-in time, then one can leave the luggage at the coin lockers at bus stop 26. 3) I had the opportunity to sleep in the 3 bunkbeds room but it was reserved only for my friend and I. The toilet and shower for our room only are just outside our rooms. The other room next to ours also has their own toilet and shower. Both toilets and shower are very clean. From my lower bunkbed in the middle, I could look out to see the numerous stars at night with a view of the Lake as well. The bed is comfortable and cosy. 4) There is a drying room with a heater too. In the morning, we had our own breakfast using the available cutlery, plates and cups in the kitchen. Takeru provided us with drip coffee. Takeru also recommended some cafes for breakfast such as the Toki House. We took the sloping path next to the post office to walk down to the lake. I really enjoyed my experience of staying at this guesthouse. Most shops closed at 5 pm. However we had dinner at the Friendly, the only restaurant which was opened when we visited at about 6.30 pm.
