Antares Hostel

The towels were dirty. The room wasn’t clean. They put me in the wrong room and then i had to move and staff weren’t very apologetic about this. Not social as a hostel, mix of a hostel and hotel. Wouldn’t recommend to other young solo travellers.

Staff is so very friendly and helpful, my friend and I had two beds booked for two nights in a 6-bed female room but when we arrived they gave us a private room instead for the same price! They have free coffee and breakfast in the mornings and everything is clean and they give fresh towels every day. Great experience overall. Thank you Hotel Antares!

Stayed in the ensuite double room. Room is generally clean & quite spacious. Wifi works well. However, you simply can’t get a good nights’ sleep. 1. You can hear very clearly what’s going on outside the door & window despite it being fully shut. 2. I believe the sewage/piping is concealed behind the wall because I could hear people’s flushing their toilet and the sound of the flush/water literally every other moment throughout the evening. It only stopped until very late into the night when everyone’s goes to bed. 3. It is still chilly in the wee morning of June. The blanket provided was simply a thin piece of linen? Woke up shivering at 4am. The price is cheap considering it is summertime in Nice & the location is a mere 3mins walk from the train station. There is also a decent supermarket right opposite. I would only recommend this place for a one night stay, catching a next day early morning train. P.s they provide Coffee Cereal Milk from 8am-10am every morning.

Dirty and sketchy. I was asked to leave my room so one of four beds could be made. I have a feeling our stuff was gone through and when I brought it up to the desk she acted clueless. I’ve never been asked to leave my room so ONE bed can be made. The bathrooms smell like urine, underneath the bed is disgusting and doesn’t get cleaned. I found a scrunchie, a ring, an earring, dust and hair under my bed probably from the last traveler who was here. Smallest and smelliest hostel bathroom I’ve ever had! I’m still here and I’m in my room because I fear my stuff will be stolen by workers.

This was my first trip completely solo, I think, and I loved staying here! I was amazed how many other travellers were solo and it was so easy to meet people and make friends. Lots of people eat at the yummy breakfast which is supplied in the mornings and it’s tradition (at least in summer) to have a couple bevvies with everyone on the terrace at the end of the day. Also such a great location for exploring Nice and making day trips along the coast. Not super flash dorm rooms, but still nice and the air con is amazing in summer. Very helpful staff. Will stay again!

I'm gonna write down some pros and cons here starting with the pros: Pros: - the property was very conveniently located right in front of the train station Nice Ville - AC in the rooms - free Luggage room - free breakfast - nice terrace Cons: and there is a BIG FAT CON!!! - there was a curfew (4-6 am?) ... when I arrived home the first night by 3:30am and kept ringing the bell for 15 min nobody answered and I was forced to sleep outside the hostel where I was first being followed by a strange man for a while until I got rid of him !!! when I addressed the staff about this the next morning they were not very understanding and not helpful at all I was told I should have come home earlier even tho I specifically asked about the exact curfew time twice(!!) before leaving in the evening. When my roommates were super worried the next morning and talked to the staff about this incident (after I talked to them about it and explained what happend to me) the staff was pretty rude to them as well just telling them “if it didn’t happen to them personally they shouldn’t care about it and be quiet” ... my roommates just wanted to make sure it would not happen again also in order to protect other girls from eventually being followed at night and to spread some awareness to the staff. Besides a ridiculous amount of 15€ that I got as an “apology” (I paid 45 for the night) they didn’t seem to care for compensating me in any other way … same thing happened to another friend of mine the following night just in his case someone came to open the door after waiting for more than 15 min If it weren’t for that incident I would have been happy to go back there at any time but the unfriendliness of the staff canceled out that option for me BIG time now!! - also they only take payments by cash cause the card machine apparently is always broken
