Rumours Luxury Villas & Spa

Rumours Luxury Villas and Spa is rated number one among 5 star options on Rarotonga year after year for a reason. It is excellent on all fronts. The accommodations are excellent, the service is excellent, and the location is excellent. We stayed in the Beachfront Platinum Villa for a week over Christmas/New Year of 2023/24. The Villa itself is amazing with a spacious main living area and Kitchen, two ocean facing primary bedrooms with beautifully designed bathrooms, a private pool and jacuzzi, and I believe what had to be largest private deck closest to the ocean in the Muri Beach area. This deck is where we spent every morning drinking coffee, and in the evening watching the sunset, and later staring at the amazing stars on display. Everything about this villa was superb. The staff were also amazing, including Toni and John who were always very helpful and friendly with lots of tips and advice, as were the rest of the staff! The experience was so good we are going back the end of next month and are staying in the same Villa. The fact that we are returning for a second trip says a lot, as does the fact that I am writing this review, which I don't often do. If you are going to Rarotonga, choose Rumors, and if the Platinum Villa is available, I would highly recommend you choose it. Outstanding accommodation. Daily breakfast (hamper) and initial stocking of (bar) fridge were fantastic add-ons. Even so, there was a shop across the road for food and drink. Reception/concierge services and advice were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance so it was the ultimate in leisure.

The place is near all commercial and tourist hotspots of Lonavala. The property itself is quite small and not as sprawling as described in some posts. We were a couple and stayed at the “Sky Villas”- unique in concept but could have been better if the view faced the backside of the property. Can sleep 4. Like any other place in Lonavla, you will get the large party who will insist on playing loud music and dominating the pool. The food is good, service is excellent. This place like any other would be a better experience on a weekday. Go for it if the price is right and you want to be in the heart of Lonavla
