The Chanler is "it" for first class attention to detail in a beautiful establishment. Location, rooms, staff and food are all top shelf. Cara should have a Michelin rating.

My husband and I love The Chanler and have been many times; however, this last time we were disappointed with an uncomfortable mattress, which we've never experienced here. All the seasoned staff who were excellent seem to have departed and there are lots of new inexperienced staff that just don't quite offer the same feel of being completely welcomed and taken care of.

While the Chanler is obviously a beautiful property, the pictures can’t express the warmth and kindness of the experience. The staff are thoughtful and helpful but not pretentious or intrusive. The property and rooms are immaculate. Right down to the coffee maker in our room that gleamed as if never used. It’s truly a place you can go to get away from daily worries and enjoy a luxurious experience.

The Chandler is a refreshing mecca for those who wish to experience service at its best. The entire staff was professional, friendly, and efficient. It was the perfect place to spend a rainy birthday weekend in Newport. When the weather was bad, we simply stayed indoors, ordered sparkling wine and appetizers sent to the room, my wife thoroughly enjoyed an aromatherapy bath, and we loved our meals at the indoor restaurant. More expensive but worth it!

From the moment we checked in, until the moment we checked out - every experience was beyond our expectations. Every staff member went out of their way to acknowledge you when they saw you and asked if you needed anything. The food and drinks were just fantastic. The 5 star rating is seen in everything they do! We can't wait to return again and again.

I have spoiled myself over the years visiting The Chanler. Last week I returned to enjoy since it has received the 5 star Forbes acclaim. Happily, the service has finally been recognized for the excellence it has always deserved. Visit for the decor, the service , the incredible dining (thanks, Jacob and staff) but if you love the ocean and the surf and the sounds of the gulls right outside your elegant balcony - stay in one of the Ocean Villas and you will not find a better location in all of Newport. Thanks to the incredible staff (shout out to Andrew) who will not hesitate to cater to your every whim. I am not crazy about the new phone system, but I am an old lady so will learn.

Wanted to surprise for my wife our 30th; Chanler's excellence exceeded all expectations. We've stayed in many 5-star resorts, world-wide. Chanler set a higher bar for 5-stars. Incomparable service across enchanting settings made for the best weekend ever in our 30 years together.

We've stayed at The Chanler several times now and it's never failed us. A classic Astor mansion on Newport's famed Mansion Row, it overlooks a breathtaking stretch of ocean. Our room was the Nantucket Suite, which feels like a seaside turn of the century cottage, yet with full luxury trappings. It has it's own private courtyard replete with private jacuzzi and steamroom, which we took full advantage of - even though it was around 12 degrees outside with snow on the ground. The restaurant was spectacular as was the bar, which feels much like the Gritti Palace's bar in Venice and The Hassler in Rome. Gorgeous wood, ocean views....classic in every stretch of the imagination. Service is excellent as is location. Doesn't come cheap but well worth it.

Staying at The Chanler is like being one of the owners of the Newport "Cottages" - an incredible property, with amazing history, awesome staff, and service that cares for you the way full-time staff would if you were well-to-do. The level of detail in everything is superb; I cannot in my wildest dreams imagine anything else they could do to improve on this. I cannot wait to return. (It's not cheap, but the value for money is high.)
