Twa Hotel at JFK Airport

The atmosphere of the hotel is absolutely awesome. After you walk through the door you feel as though you travel back in time 70 years. The property has so much to offer. I wish the entire experience was as exciting. Now the bad. It is an adventure to get to and from the hotel to the terminals that is only exacerbated by construction. Additionally if it is raining, you will be soaked before your adventure ends as a large proportion of it is not covered. . We arrived very late evening, One desk clerk was working reception. There was a line and it took over 30 minutes before we were able to check in. What made it worse was there were many other reception desks and two other receptionist who were not helping anyone. They also had several self check-in kiosks. None were working. To get to the rooms is another adventure with turns up ramps and thick carpeted hallways with upward inclines that will give you a work out especially if you have much in the lines of luggage. Once in the room the decor was spot on and fantastic until I looked out the window. I was expecting a view of the airport instead I was face to face with taxis, uber, lyfts and other incoming traffic at street level. I closed the blinds immediately and never reopened them. I then realized that it was extremely hot. The a/c was off in mid July and the room was a toasty 79 degrees. It only took 2 hours or so to get the room comfortable. I then took a shower where I spent the majority of my time struggling to stay upright while sliding all over the shower from the slippery stone tiled shower floor. Topping it off the bill started at just over $300 per night base rate, but after 9 different, itemized service fees and NY taxes the damage was over $400. Go and visit if you have extra time at JFK, but I would avoid they stay.

They advertised the roof top bar but omit the $25 a head cover charge and it's for 2 hours, regardless of if you eat or drink. There's no coffee maker in the room. It can be a hike from the room to the Food Court.

Very clean, modern hotel with a real quirk, location is fab with the sky train less than five minutes walk away.

I decided to stay at the airport for a day, to stay at a hotel in this historic terminal at JFK. After arriving and checking in, the atmosphere in the hotel was good, but the room facilities were broken and there was only a trash can in the bathroom, so it didn't feel like a great hotel. The rooftop pool was great to be able to watch the planes while swimming, but it was disappointing that even guests had to pay a reasonable pool fee. Since the accommodation fee is already high, I wish they would at least make the pool free to use or make it cheaper for accommodations that don't use the pool. It's great for aviation fans who have a special attachment to TWA or who like retro things, but as a hotel to stay at I honestly felt it was inferior to other chain hotels.

This place is great. I have stayed there twice now visiting NY where I grew up. Clean, comfortable, an experience on its own. Wake up and take the sky bridge train at and on JFK Airport and don't risk the crowded shuttle vans from all the other airports around JFK that are not ON JFK. Plus early check in available, make a day of it!

Was a bit tentative about booking because it was expensive and some of the reviews were less than flattering. But we loved it. The retro features and the old TWA terminal give it a real wow factor which compensates for an otherwise rather soulless check in experience. I felt I was on a Mad Men set. the room was comfortable and the sound proofing is amazing. I could not get our minibar to open but that was probably a good thing. We ate at Cafe George. The food was good but perhaps overpriced. The hotel made getting our early flight from JFK totally stress free and for that alone it was worth it. Would definitely go there again
