Great Island Inn - A Modern Boutique Hotel

Our host has literally thought of everything. It’s really great that the outside of this building is beautifully historic in appearance, but the room we were in was modern, great combination. Lots of special design touches to make the room unique. And how thoughtful to have drinks of all kinds available at very reasonable prices. Bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious and sparkling clean. Kitchen fully equipped. Quick walk to beach. We stayed on ground floor, virtually no traffic in the middle of summer, so it was quiet. Highly recommend.

So happy we chose the Great Island Inn for a two-night stay in September. The room on the top floor was well appointed and comfortable. The hosts thought of everything. Communication was top notch, and their recommendations were on the money. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast each morning from the Islander Cafe. We look forward to returning. We loved every minutes in the Great Island Inn: beautiful decor, very clean place, very well furnished. A lot of nice attentions as the lovely postals and pencils in the lobby. Doug and Abby are very easy to join and the way they send you details about you stay is very gentle. The bed was super comfortable and the sofa too. We enjoyed using all the facilities. Coffee is super quality and the kitchen is super well furnished. We bought our breakfast at the Islander Café and ate it in the backyard: it was a very agreeable time on a sunny morning! Walks in the neighborhood are very peaceful and absolutely beautiful and safe! Anyway we plan to book a room next time we will travel to New Castle which is one of our favorite place on the Coast.

What a surprise gem! My husband and I stayed here one night en route to Maine. It was lovely and perfectly appointed. We stayed in a King room. The kitchen was great, the mattress fantastic, and the bathroom was large (with a great shower head). We took chairs and walked down to the ocean for a cocktail on our Friday evening stay. The only suggestion I would make is to have some plastic tumblers to take a drink to the beach or harbor area (there were only glass glasses and cups). We had breakfast at the small cafe next door that following morning. Highly recommend and very close to Portsmouth. We loved our stay! I would totally stay here for a week, as it was an easy drive in and around ME and NH.

Loved everything about it. EVERYTHING. Already looking into the next stay. Perfect location. Cozy, clean and comfortable. Had everything that you may need. Quiet, private. Beautiful room and landscapes. New Castle has a very special feel to it.

I have been in the property business for over 25 years and the attention to detail with all the quality touches are stunning. The accommodation is luxury, the products wonderful and the location peaceful yet close to the water. Doug and Amy are superb hosts, very attentive and understanding. They have simply thought of all we needed and their experience in the hospitality field shines through. We will be staying in one of their establishments again and soon. Richard & Victoria
