My daughter and I stayed here for a week. The hotel is small and friendly, not without old-fashioned charm, I quite liked the ambiance. On the plus side it has a view of the old fortress overlooking the sea, and there are plenty of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. (But see note below). Also a small supermarket one street away and an ice cream kiosk next door. The shower was piping hot, the air con worked, staff were friendly and helpful with info. Clean fairly comfortable beds. Negative points: My daughter is quite good with tech gadgets but neither of us could figure out the Bulgarian flat screen TV. All we could manage was a blue screen showing the names of the channels and a channel menu. It wasn't a major issue as I only wanted an English news channel. The coffee machine broke down twice, and orange juice ran out on day 5. Cooked breakfast options were limited - precooked boiled eggs or scrambled egg twice, smallish bits of precooked bacon three times - but this was often either very fatty or very gristly. The continental Bulgarian style cold options were quite nice - cereals, local yogurt, packaged choc croissants and some small cakes and biscuits featured. Along with delicious salty feta and small mixed olives, fresh tomatoes and cucumber, plus cold meats and salami, pates, breads, and various fresh fruits. I saw a few teas, plus two kinds of jam portions and honey. Our twin room (with a sea view - just!) was very small - one chair squeezed into a corner. Maybe just enough room to swing a mouse. The toilet was a small wet room so we needed to use the toilet before the floor beside the pedestal got soaked... And there was no plug for the sink. Overall it was ok, and we did enjoy staying in a traditional hotel rather than a modern high rise soulless block. The location was very good, five minutes walk to the centre of the old town, only ten minutes walk to the bus and taxi stop at the small harbours. NOTE: the restaurant "Seasons" bistro on the terrace directly opposite the hotel is not part of the Victoria. I went in once for a drink but was ignored so I left. When I checked reviews the bistro scored very low - poor service and poor value for money. T
