Avant Mar Paros

My rating is an average of 5 stars for the staff/service and 1 star for the room (there's no 0 stars which is what the rooms deserved). The staff was friendly, attentive, and eager to help. They responded to the WhatsApp chat very quickly and did a good job a of arranging reservations and transportation for us. But there's no reason a hotel room should be that small. I was at a holiday inn express in Hong Kong 6 weeks ago that was bigger than the Avant Mar room. They don't lie about it, they tell you upfront that the room is 26m, but a 'luxury' hotel should not even offer a 26m room. If the hotel was on the corner of 5th Avenue and 57th st. in Manhattan, I could understand. But in the middle of nowhere how much money in land could you actually be saving by squeezing so many rooms onto such a small parcel of land? Unnecessary. The room doesn't have a bathroom, it has a shower that they somehow shoved a toilet and sink into. When you're brushing your teeth, you're brushing your teeth in the shower. When you're using the toilet, you're using the toilet in the shower. It's just a showerhead in the middle of the room. When you go to brush your teeth an hour after showering your feet are wet because then entire 'bathroom' floor is wet because you're brushing your teeth in a shower. When you're using the toilet your feet get wet from the shower water. When you shower you soak your toiletry case because the countertop is 24 inches from the shower head - EVERYTHING gets wet when you shower. It's so small that when you shower you have to put the tiny garbage can in fronlnt of the toilet and when you want to use the toilet you have to move the garbage can to underbthe showerhead. You can't live out of your suitcase because there's not enough floor area to lay the suitcase down. The 'closet' is 1 small shelf below the hanging clothes. So we had to stack 2 people's clothing 10 layers high to get it all in. And then the 2 suitcases sit literally in the doorway for the rest of the trip because that's the only floor area in this shoebox they call a room. You're dodging suitcases every time you walk in and out of the room. The pool and pool area were great. We ate at the Nobu restaurant one night and that was fabulous. The breakfast sad a bit sad. There was no buffet, just bread and butter and jam and the breakfast menu was very limited. But the orange and Grapefruit juice they serve at breakfast was probably the best I've ever had.

We selected this hotel for its location and it did not disappoint! Beautiful pool, lovely beach club and walking distance to great restaurants and shopping in town. I read complaints that the rooms were too small - we were two in our room and were not bothered that it was cozy - we had a beautiful covered porch and a stunning view. Housekeeping kept our room pristine every day. The staff here is better than I’ve ever experienced - they look after everything for you while being approachable and friendly. It all felt very natural - like they were as happy as we were to be there. Breakfasts are amazing - overnight oats and cappuccinos - Greek salad and wines are amazing for lunch. We are huge Nobu fans so loved our night at the sushi restaurant- delicious. They also gave us great restaurant recommendations in town for dinner. The gin bar on the roof for sunset is a nice touch. I can’t find anything but great things to say about this gorgeous property.

This is our first trip to Greece and our first time to Paros so the location of Avant Mar is wonderful! We were traveling with a group of friends including couples and families, so we kept the staff very busy upon arrival and they became very supportive of our hopes and needs for the trip. The manager in particular, took time to meet with me and was very flexible and kind to ensure our Avant Mar experience was amazing. The breakfasts included in the morning are wonderful and the staff have been very attentive to our preferences - ensuring swift service paired with delicious food and drinks. The beach is calm and relaxing, and right at the hotel. The staff have a WhatsApp channel which makes communications easy - we are very grateful for how special they have made our stay. We would definitely recommend Avant Mar for anyone considering a trip to this most beautiful part of the world.

We recently returned from an incredible stay at Avant Mar. Every aspect of our stay was wonderful. The hotel itself is gorgeous, both comfortable and luxurious. It's situated perfectly close to Naoussa with lots of shops and restauranrs (5-10 min walk), but separated enough to be quite and secluded. In addition to beautiful rooms and pool and the incredible backdrop of the Aegean Sea and the beach -- the crown jewel of this experience was the kind, easy and always accomodaiting staff. Everyone at the hotel contributed to our wonderful stay -- especially Alekandra -- a manager at reception who exetended herself on so many occasions -- giving great advice and making sure we had everything we needed. We traveled with 10 family members -- ranging from age 13 to age 85, and this hotel was the perfect spot for all our needs -- making it a fantastic experience. 5 stars 100%

We had a great experience at the Avant Mar. The architecture is refined and the atmosphere is calming without being stuffy. All staff, front desk, breakfast, beach, housekeeping, etc are attentive and friendly. The breakfast offerings are good, and the bedding was the most comfortable of all our various Greece hotels. Our guest room (and I think every room) was perfect; not overly large, but efficient and decorated with refined simplicity. Lighting, bathroom design, bedroom design are very well thought out. The location allows for a quick 5 minute walk to the beautiful town of Naoussa.

I want to say what a fantastic hotel! The staff were all very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. Location is superb with a beach within 2 minute stroll and the picturesque town within a 5 minute stroll. My only tiny critique is the main pool could do with heating like the spa pool and the drinks service is a little slow but hey we are on holiday so was not a problem. Breakfasts were again excellent too. The rooms were stylish and very comfortable and I cannot recommend this hotel enough - see you next year in June!!
