Murren, Lauterbrunnen is the most beautiful place I’ve been to in Europe. Eiger Hotel was the perfect size to have all the amenities and retain the family atmosphere. Every meal we tried was amazing, especially the New Year’s Even set menu. Well done.
Family owned and operated, this hotel is worth it! When in Murren, we will ALWAYS stay here! The staff is happy, engaging and helpful! The owners are on site and are obviously invested in the success of their business. We were always greeted warmly! We purchased half board and dinner every night was top notch and delicious as was the service! Everyone was happy to help each other and seemed genuinely interested in providing guests with the best possible experience. Breakfast was a blend of meats, cheeses and traditional breakfast foods including freshly made croissants and yogurt. It was always fresh and the variety to choose from was plenty! Again, the service was exceptional. The ambiance was a blend of old and contemporary with original artwork throughout the many beautiful spaces available to guests. We enjoyed the terrace every evening and often played backgammon in the spacious, well designed common area overlooking the mountains with plenty of comfortable seating. Drinks were always perfectly concocted and well served. Most of the time spent in our room, was actually spent on our private terrace overlooking the Eiger. It was a magical place where we could take in the view and breathe the wonderfully fresh air. Our room was well-equipped and very comfortable with a large bed and seating area that included a small couch, chair and small table and refrigerator. The pool was nice, but usually busy. The thalassotherapy pool was a welcome and appealing addition. I can't speak to the spa area as we did not take advantage. The hotel, itself is perfectly situated just outside of the main village and within walking distance to the train station (where we were met instantly with hotel staff sent to retrieve our luggage) town and all of the available activities. The trams/gondolas were accessible and easy to get to. The hotel had sledges available for guest use. Get the key early in the morning! This hotel represents everything that a five star should be. Attention to detail made our visit to Murren perfect. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Had the mountain side view and was definitely worth the price for our honeymoon. Being able to sleep with the windows open is a plus. We stayed in the "off-season" for tourist so there weren't as many people which was a plus but there was a lot of construction. Breakfast was awesome, the best we had in Europe during our stay. Being right across the train station made it very easy to go anywhere.

One of the best hotels we've stayed in. Everything about this hotel made our trip to this part of Switzerland simply amazing! Although our room was a little small, the view from our balcony was breathtaking (see attached photos). The bed was perfect, the rooms were super clean & cozy. Although body soap & shampoo was supplied, they were very small bottles. We had dinner at their restaurant for the 3 nights we stayed and the food was amazing! The breakfast buffet was delicious. The staff were friendly and took care of all our needs. We can't wait to come back for our next vacation here.

I booked this hotel through Tripadvisor (which directed me to *******) based on the reviews on this site. Clearly, many people love this hotel and have had great experiences. I do not doubt this is true, but I am posting my review in order to give visitors information I wish I had when I was choosing hotels. First Problem: The hotel sent detailed instructions about getting to Murren (on mountain top, cliff edge, no cars). Take the train from Lauterbrunnen. The hotel is directly across the street. We dutifully parked in the Lauterbrunnen station garage, dragged our bags to the station, only to learn the train was closed. I called the hotel, and they knew of this closure. The directed me to another location where I could take a cable car. Why they sent one set of instructions but did not send a follow up is a mystery. We lost over an hour pulling luggage back and forth. Second Problem: As instructed, I called the hotel from the cable car to let them know we were on the way. They said they would have someone meet us and drive us to the hotel. They had my name and the number of people in our party. When we arrived at the mountain top, it was sleeting, and we were not dressed for the weather. The driver took our luggage in a cart that was designed to fit three, possibly four guests, He informed us that another party was coming -- a family of four. There was no room for all of us in the cart. My husband, a gentleman, walked to the hotel in the sleet without proper clothing -- our coats were in our luggage. The hotel know how many people they were going to pick up. Surely they could have sent two carts. Alternatively, they could have told us in the imaginary email that informed us of the train closure "We can take your luggage to the hotel, but may not have room for every guest in the car. Please dress for possibly bad weather on the mountain top as you walk to the hotel." That's what I would have done, but that's just me. You never get a second chance at a first impression. When we arrived, the staff was very nice, but not at all concerned with the issues we had arriving. I waited in the lobby for my husband to finally arrive, cold and wet. No one seemed to think this was a bad start. I would not presume to tell anyone at Hotel Eiger how to do their job, but an acknowledgment of their errors in communication and pick-up, followed by a sincere apology would have done wonders. Third Problem: All the room with Mountain Views were booked when I made my reservation. No matter, Switzerland is so beautiful, I had no doubt the forest view would be exceptional. The rooms were listed as 25 sq. meters, which translate roughly to 290 square feet. In the photos, the forest view rooms all have space for beds, tables, easy chairs, and a desk. So we enter Room 454, and while I did not measure it, there is no way it was 25 square meters. There was no room for an easy chair or a desk or any of the space that was pictured in the w

We would also like to point out that we are happy to drive the golf cart twice if there is not enough space for all the guests arriving. However, we have only had this problem on one day this year as the railway opposite did not run on the day you arrived. We are really sorry that this has led to a wrong impression and we are convinced that all this is unfortunately only a misunderstanding. We are grateful for your kind words about the cleanliness of our hotel and the friendliness of our staff. We take great pride in maintaining high standards of hospitality.
