Kilimanjaro Scenic Lodge

Shocking experience here. Booked for one night and they had overbooked and did not have a room. Gabriel the owner refused to cancel the non refundable booking. Tried to offer us into a room in a house 4km away which did not even have a sink. What a con man. DO NOT STAY HERE. A thoroughly unpleasant experience. The worst hotel experience I have ever had.

We stayed 4 nigths in this lodge. Room was fine, clean and includes a private bathroom with shower. Gabriel is your host and ensures that your stay is pleasurable. Takes the time to host you and is willing to organise various activities. Breakfast is well taken care of and dinner menu somewhat limited in choice but ok. Lisa takes care of you. We had a great view from our room towards the Kilimanjaro mountain, however one needs some luck to see it due to the cloudcover in the area.

Very nice place. We spent 1 night there after 2 weeks of meetings with our partners in Arusha. Great rooms, very good food in the restaurant. The owner gave us a warm welcome. The price for the room with breakfast was fine. But any additional things we checked on were very expensive. The food a la carte in the restaurant, drinks and especially transport we asked for. It was only possible to pay cash and we wanted to pay in Tanzanian Shilling instead of USD. The exchange rate he asked for was 15% worse than usual. Seems that this is the way for him to compensate for the okay price of the rooms. We do not like such behavior thus for us it will be the only stay despite the fact we did really like the place.

Sadly only got to spend one night here; Gabriel and his team are excellent hosts and are expanding the lodge each year. Currently they have 8 rooms and hope to expand to 11. We got to stay in a new room as the first guests. Beautifully decorated. Great food at the restaurant. Team was very helpful is organizing a quick foray into town to pick up last minute gifts for family and friends.

We stayed here for our honeymoon following the successful hike up Kilimanjaro and a Safari trip in the Seregenti. It was the perfect spot to relax and take in our African adventures from the two weeks before. It is a very well kept establishment that’s the definition of beautiful and the waiting staff and cook bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. On our last night the chef made one of the best curries we had ever tasted! The manager Gabriel also is absolutely lovely with so much knowledge about the area and will offer some days out with you so you can see the surrounding waterfalls and caves. He took us to a great coffee plantation where we learnt the full roasting process and got to try fresh coffee. On site you will find, a fully stocked bar and restaurant (catered for a pescatarian like me as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options) warm water, laundry (hand washed by staff), garden, outside swing lounger and Kilimanjaro views. Also don’t be worried about the journey in because it looks like you’re in the middle of no where but all of a sudden you will see the treetop house and notice how beautiful the site is. It’s completely safe and you’ll realise it’s perfectly located within Moshi. All in all - this was absolutely perfect for some down time to refresh and would be great for those who need to carb load and prepare for the kili hike (there were a few guests who were preparing to ascent when we were there). It’s a the hidden gem which we were so satisfied by and glad to have found.

We had a wonderful stay at Kilimanjaro Scenic Lodge before and after our hike to Kilimanjaro. The team, our waiter Praygod and host were very thoughtful. The food and drinks were excellent. The rooms were special and offered everything we needed from electricty, to a nice shower, WIFI and a comfortable bed. Everything was clean and the location was ideal. We even had a beautiful view of Kilimanjaro from our room.
